Do you guys think the way you construct your headline (discussion subject) plays a significant role here on MyLot. Almost like a advertisement, or like newspapers for instance, they sell by their headlines all the time.
Or do you think it is where you start your discussion under your interests, or both, that will get you more responses

For me, the headline of the topic is the first to grab my attention. I've been grabbed by the headline and declined answering based on the body of the discussion itself. I think the headline is the thing that initially captures the reader's attention and that is one of the major deciding factors as to whether the discussion is successful.

If the title is eye grabbing it will get attention
whether it's in a specific interest or under the
general discussion page. I will answer discussions
I normally wouldn't answer if the title piques my
interest.
I personally don't go to specific interests all to
often. I mostly check what my friends have started,
then I'll go to new discussions. I only go to specific
interests if something pops into my head.

When my ears start a ringing, I knew someone was
thinking of me. I'll be responding right after
I leave here.

Glad you sorted your Signature out! But it looks a bit different, I thought you went to greener pastures, glad to see you here. I started a discussion in your "Honour" but don't let me scratch your head all the way from SA:)
Read all about it! Read all about it!!!!!

I do think the headline play important role as the keywords do as when we look at any given page the headline will be the first thing we screen through before we even decide to put more time to read on the content under the headline.Anyway am sure that's not the only factor to effect the responses of the discussions. Sometime you may come out with brilliant topic/headline but the timing was just not right and as a result only few responses beeen generates.

I like to start my discussions with a good headline. (if I can think of one)hee, hee, Normally it is a headline that catches the eye and makes people want to read the content. Sometimes it is difficult to come up with good discussions though.
PS. I sent private message. Will you let me know if you get it.

It is probably a little bit of both because it depends on the people who are responding. Some people need to see a catchy title. Others are looking for a great subject. With over 86,000 people on Mylot.com, you can be sure there are various reasons why mylotters choose a subject. I will tell you how I choose. First I look in my e-mail and respond to my friends. Now if they are friends who only respond to my posts once in a blue moon, that is what they get from me. If they are consistent, that get that from me. Then I look online for interesting subjects. Throughout the day I come up with conversations if there is time.

I do exactly the same, and now my friends are such good "quality" friends, I respond to all of them, because there is not one single one that doesn't respond to my discussions, I cleaned up big time.
I hear what you're saying, a little bit of both, it's just that I don't get the time to look at catchy headlines. The few friends I have keep me pretty busy, and it is one of them that made me think, because the headline was brilliant, although he was in my email, I'm sure he received alot of responses.
Thx girl for your response. xx

Hi! I always wondered what attracts users to the posts here. Personally, titles attract me first. Then as I read the post if I can relate to it or I have something of value to add, that's the time I post a respond. If not, then I will browse for titles under my friends' discussion to see if there is anything that catches my attention. :) Sometimes the titles may not seem interesting but as I scan the discussion, my interest increases and I just need to respond :)

Titles or headlines can sometimes be very misleading but at the same time be very affective. I always when new friends join my list, as I get time I will comb through their old posts, and in this case I don't think a headline makes any a difference.
Thank you sick4muzik for your time to respond xx

I've realized I have to be more careful about my headline, as it is the first impression to folks what I'm talking about.. So now I always double think my title.. I have the mylot homepage preferences so my interests come up, but still the titles seem to be what makes up my final decision as to what discussion to go to..
Your question is a good question.. and now I'm wondering..
