As a few of you might know from a previous discussion, our baby dwarf lop bunny "Pixie" was killed by one or two dogs over the weekend. A mylot friend of mine - Brendalee -has given me a website link that helps cope with pet loss (the loss of your furbabies they call it)I hope she doesn't mind me posting this. It has some lovely comforting thoughts and practical ways to grieve your loss and move on. Thankyou to Brendalee again. www.petloss.com

I'm so sorry this happened to your poor Pixie Bunny, there is another called the Rainbow Bridge that is as similar place for the family to visit. Taramoons discussions have it somewhere. What an awful thing to happen, I hope you can all cope with it and move on, bless you all, love and hugs!

Thanks Rainbow. Things are settling down a bit around here now. Even though Reggie (our budgie) was taken on Friday night by the same dog! I saw it with the budgie in its mouth!! I am calling the dog catcher again on Monday as we don't feel safe in our own yard now!!!

I am so sorry to hear this missy and the fact that your pet was killed and did not just see out it's life is quite sad. I am no good when losing a pet and know that it is going to happen one day with my 15 year old cat, my last one made it to 17. Our dog is also getting older and it is times like this that you can do with some kind of comfort and thank-you for sharing this as it does help with grieving processes I am sure. Hugs to you! :)caramello

Of course I don't mind and you are very welcome. I am so glad that the site helped you and you want to share that with others. Losing a pet can be so agonizing and the best place to turn is a place where people understand just what you are going through. There is also another site where I have a memorial page for my dog. Its free and you can have 3 pages of pictures and even a place where people can leave comments. You can set up your own at www.mypetpages.com I found by having a memorial for my dog, it helped the healing process. I'll PM you my site. I would love to share it with everyone but it has limited bandwith.

So sorry to hear of your loss, missy. We had a pet rabbit for the children and I built it a great house and run but even then, I felt sorry for caging him in. He got a bit wierd too and would eat sparrows that came into his cage to eat his food and bark at you and bite. So one day I just let him out in the garden and there he stayed for the rest of his life. He would come into the conservatory during the day and sleep on a comfortable chair. Perfectly clean and house trained. At night he would be in the garden eating the lawn and the occasional flower but he did very little damage. He also had free access to his old cage where we still fed him. Then one day he caught mixymytosos (spelling?) and we had to have him put down. The vet said birds may have transmitted it to him, so my 'kindness' may have killed him. But at least he had a wonderful couple of years of total freedom at the end of his life.

How lucky your bunny was to have you for family. At least he had a few good years of virtual freedom. Our bunny used to have mostly free reign of the house except at night when we put her in her cage.
