The Repo Man Cometh

Last night started out as any other night. It was quiet and peaceful. The guys were playing Battlefield at their computers. Our grandson decided to take a break from watching Spongebob Squarepants and visit with Opa in the computer room. I heard what I thought was a large truck out in the neighborhood. This didn't bother me because our neighbors have a car that sounds like a truck!
Suddenly, my husband came racing from the computer, clearly excited over something that was going on outside. He told me that a tow truck was in front of our house. They were preparing to tow my husband's car.
This really came as no surprise to us. As most of you know, we have been robbing Peter to pay Paul. Well, I guess Peter was tired of waiting and decided to send someone for the car.
We do have another car. I had been able to keep up with the payments until recently when my unemployment benefits ran out. Hopefully my luck with finding a job will pay off soon. If not, I fear that my car will soon be hauled off.

well, at least you won't have to worry about the car payments for that car anymore. when the tech field went bottom up, i gave my car back as i couldn't make the payments. they sent a really nice repo man to my house to pick up the car and he even told me how sorry he was to have to come get the car. i was like 8 months preggers at the time. i had to comfort him. i told him that it was ok, but that what little money we had needed to be used for the coming baby.

Glad to hear that the guy they sent out has a heart. I am not sure that this guy spoke a word to my husband.

Oh, I am so sorry. I hate bill problems. I have been in the hole for years now, but trying to dig out of it. I hope things get turned around for you soon.

The only way I am better off than you is that I do not have anything to repo. It is a hard life lesson for your grandson to have to learn, by being there. Did I miss something in one of the discussions? Did you take legal custody of him?

Oh sweetie that so stinks!!! adding insult to injury. It's hard to keep the faith when these things come up and smack ya. But try to remain strong and positive. If everything happens for a reason then there are better things ahead.
Keep trying to find work. Dunkin Do Nuts may not have been too bad for a few months? but if it was just totally out of the question then be agressive and think of things that you love to do that you could make money at? DO you love errands? DO you love window cleaning or chil care or whatever. Use your talents to earn some income.
Hang in there, your in my thoughts and prayers.!

I am thankful that Hubby at least has a job now. I am getting agitated over the jobs I have applied for. Yesterday I found another rejection letter in the mail.

Oh, I've been there.. I had a 15 passenger van reposessed when I lived in Washington and broke my leg. I had an adult family home and lost it all and had to move back home.
I've been on disability now for almost 2 years. I had insurance on my car payment in case of illness or disability...thank God. But even though I had it the bank sent out the Repo guy for 90.00. I got the car back and they apologized...but the 90.00 turned into 145.00 before I got the car back. I have been on pins and needles for a few weeks now because the insurance paid the last payment..somehow I still owe 422.71 which I don't have so I finally called the bank and am sending them 125.00. It's so sad my car should be paid off and it's still going to take me 2 months just to do it...at least.
I hope things work out for you soon. It's a horrible feeling when you rob Peter to pay Paul and Phil pops in with his hand out.....I hope you don't lose both cars...I'll keep you in my prayers.

It definately sounds like financially you are up against a wall.I am glad your hubby is back to work and that soon your luck will change. It is good to hear that no one tried anything silly with the repo man(who was just doing his job) as we read/see how some of these situations can get out of control very quickly. My fingers remain crossed for you and your family.

This just sucks. I guess it had to come to this and yes, no more payments on that car. I hope you got your stuff from it. I also hope that a great job comes your way soon. Keep us posted and we send positive energies your way for you and yours. Good luck.

Ohh dear .. what a dreadful thing to happen .. it must be very hard to have all this worry over your head .. but thankfully it was 'just' a car that had to go .. not your furnishings or more personal items .. and thankfully you do have a second car for now ..
Can you not get any help at all? Here in the UK we have so many citizens help shops for money problems .. they don't give you cash .. but they do help you sort out the bill, manage the debt and contact all your debtors for you so you get more time to pay ..
I wish you luck with getting a job :o)

This must be horrible for you, I'm so sorry for you. I hope you find a job you like soon. I have been without enough money several times in my life where we've had to juggle the bills. Thankfully we don't have to struggle so much anymore, but you never know what may happen.

That could happen to me but I got all the credit cards and loans that I need in advance because once they repo anything, especially a car, your credit is shot for at least 7 years.
