I had an IUD once, it last two weeks and they had to remove it from my stomach, I had horrible cramps and pain with it, I would not recommend it to anyone.

Hi Jenn, an IUD is a contraceptive that is inserted in your womb. It is placed in a way that it fits snugly into your fallopian tube. A woman with IUD still gets her period. It does not in any way stop your period.
When choosing an IUD, your gynae will help you choose if you want a 3 year or a 5 year period, and also the kind of IUD that is available and what is best for you. You will then have to change your IUD after the stated period to ensure that you are safe from unwanted pregnancies.
All the best.- Lyn
