Do you have a special memory of your grandparents from when you were a child? I have a lot of them as I grew up with both sets of grandparents and great grandparents to boot! One memory is of my grandpa teaching me how to ride my brand new pink banana seat bicycle. We must have gone up and down his street about fifty times before I had the courage to tell him to let go of the bike. We could have done that fifty more times and he would have been just as patient and reassuring as the first fifty.

My favorite memory of my grandparents is the time I forgot my favorite stuffed bear at their house. I must have been about 5 or 6, and I was absolutely convinced that I couldn't live through the night without it. My grandparents lived 30 minutes away and my parents refused to go back to get it for me. Being the spoiled little thing that I was, my grandparents found it and drove it all the way to my house for me.

Awww...that's so sweet. I left my favorite cabage patch doll at my grandparent's house one night and I was sooo upset. I called my grandmother and told her where the doll was and gave strict instructions that she sleep with the doll so that the doll wouldn't be lonely or cold by herself all night until I got there the next day to pick her up.

I have a great many fond memories of my grandfather, my dad's dad. He was not exactly known to be a very patient person, but his love for people was unmistakable. He has snapped at me, many a time for disturbing his afternoon siesta but has gone on to narrate me stories, some of his own experiences, but mostly mythological tales. I would often win prizes in the mythological and general knowledge quizzes, thanks to my granddad's story telling sessions! He was a retired Executive Engineer who served in the Central Public Works Commission, a veritable celebrity of those days! He was a genius in math and often chided me for my poor math skills. He was also a voracious reader. Towards the end of his days (he passed away four years ago), he still had the passion to read books, but due to his poor vision, he could not and so, I would read him books that he wanted to read, and that would make him really happy. Thanks to you, I recollected a great deal of fond memories of mine! Thanks and God bless!

Glad I could jog your memory and brighten your day! Those are some really great memories you've got there. And, that, my friend, is why grandparents are special lol. Have a great day.

I think people tend not to treasure people when they are there. When I was young, I was mischievous too and always hoped they will stop bothering me. But now that they are gone, I can only miss them in vain. :/

I know what you mean. I was your typical unappreciative kid/teenager too; never wanting to be bothered or told what to do. Now that my nanna is gone and I am an adult I look back and understand all that she tried to do and did for me and all my extended family members. I miss her terribly and wish I could see her for a few moments if for no other reason than to say thank you and I love you.
