Do you ever remove your wedding ring from your finger?

Are you the type of person that is superstitious about never removing your wedding ring? I have always more worried about it getting stuck with my finger growing. I have to take it off every night when I go to sleep and panic if it is hot and my finger too big for it to come off. Mind you I also remove my engagement ring which is rather scratchy and some nights it is much better if I am not wearing that - if you get my drift!

My DH takes his off every night before he goes to bed. He is a good little soldier, though, and puts it on every morning. :)
I usually leave mine on all the time. The only times I take it off, is if I'm really hot, and my fingers start to swell. (they do that sometimes.) I also removed it during the last trimester of all three of my pregnancies, because my fingers swelled up so much. I hated not having it on, but I just couldn't wear it.

I never take my wedding ring off. It has nothing to do with any kind of superstition rather it's just that I'm scared I would lose it. I am always putting stuff down and forgetting where I left it. My wife always keeps her wedding ban on too but has her engagement ring locked away somewhere safe for the exact same reason.

Excuse me sounding rude (it is a bit difficult to express typing). I hope the engagement ring comes out on display sometimes.

When I did wear my wedding band I only took them off when i was cooking messy, sticky things like bread or meatballs. Now I wear one ring and it still cames off for messy jobs,it just feels in the way otherwise but I'm not superstitious about it though with the wedding band thing.

I think that is the best thing to do so the rings stay clean. It seems that we may be in a minority though judging from the other responses.

I take mine off every now and then, depending on what I am doing. One night I was mixing up meat loaf and I took it off so it wouldn't get all icky and I forgot to put it back on so the next day I went out shopping and ran into someone I hadn't seen in a long time and of course she noticed that I didn't have my ring on and asked me about it. And I take it off when I exercise...I can't stand having it on I don't know why, I don't like ths sound of it hitting the machine I work out on =)

I do forget to put it back on sometimes too but luckily other people haven't noticed or at least they haven't commented. I was beginning to think it was only me that ever took their wedding ring off. Thank you so much for replying.

It was a difficult choice that is why I took so long. Several replies were very good. Yours had several different examples. Thank you very much for replying.

I am not at all superstitious and there have been occassions where I had to remove the wedding ring that does not mean I love my wife less.

I've had the joints removed from my fingers and replaced with silastic. The joints do not have movement in the fingers: only where they join onto the hand. My fingers are very sensitive.
I could not wear my rings for a few years, before and after the surgery, and cannot wear them full time without discomfort. I always wear them to go out, but do not wear them in the house. Because of the discomfort, especially in cooler weather when the rings are loose and tend to turn on the finger, I had the two rings welded together, making one wider, double ring, which is much more comfortable and more stable on the finger. In very humid weather (I live in sunny Queensland) the rings are too tight and in the few cooler months, they are rather loose.
My husband has never taken his ring off. It looks very uncomfortable because it is so tight, but he says he doesn't even know it is there.

I was sad to read your story - thank you for sharing it with us. That is what worries me about it getting too tight.

I never remove any of my rings one finger I wear 4 of them the only time I take my rings off is once a week I take them off and clean them with cleaner other than that they stay put. If my finger swells oh well at least I know that I didn't misplace it or lose it which would be my biggest fear taking it off all the time. whether this is good or bad I don't know I just prefer to leave them all on.

You are very disciplined to clean them every week. My engagement ring needs cleaning but I don't do it often enough really.

i always remove my weddind ring at night before i go to sleep. my ring is a little loose so it is better if i remove it and put it somewhere safe and i'll put it back again in the morning before i get up.

Thank you for adding to this discussion - I was beginning to think I was a bad wife for thinking more of my finger than the symbolism of a ring or at least the cost.

The only time i take my wedding ring off is when i am making bread dough or cookies that require kneeding or mixing by hand. Then I remove so that the dough doesnt get stuck in the diamonds.

No I dont take my ring off. I dont wear a weddingring but the ring that I do wear I dont take off. I am like that with most jewellery really, the few bits I have need to be things that I dont have to take off all the time.
