Well not since last night anyway. The five year old took off his sweat pants, threw them into the air and nailed the overhead light fixture in such a way that it shattered. He them comes and finds me and "Mommy, you really don't want to go into the living room." Well, I did, and he claims it was an accident, How mad can I get? He told me at least, lol.

Sounds like something my daughter would do. She will come and tell me not to go into her room cause she's done something she's not suppose to. Kids...!!...!!...

I don't think you should get too mad, a short lecture on not throwing things should do fine. See, as long as he didn't mean to (No way he could have known that a pair of sweat pants could break a light fixture), nobody got hurt, and he came and told you about it, he displayed extraordinary responsibility for a five year old. Yeah, don't get too mad. He didn't mean to, he came and told you, and nobody got hurt. That warrants a short talk, but not much else.

Glad you are in his corner, lol. No I know he didn't mean to do it and we are all good, just minus a light fixture.

At least he was honest. We have has 2 fan lights broken in similar ways. One time my son was throwing around his clothes rushing to leave the house for school and the belt on a pair of pants shattered on, the other he was throwing socks and one hit the light and it fell to the ground and shattered.

My ten year old would have tried to hide it. I'm hoping that the little guy will keep being honest. Cross your fingers.

Actually, I took a really deep breath and told him that I was glad he had told me about it. I also told him that I wasn' happy about it and that is why he is told not to run, ect. in the ouse.
