The most terrible thing that happened to me was when I was 25 years old and a single mom. I lost the most important parent I had. I was close to my father, he was a good man, but he had cancer and passed away at the age of 59 years old. It nearly did me in and I'm still sure it may have if I didn't have my little girl. I knew she needed a mommy after all she was only 4 years old. I'm now 56 and there's hardly ever a day go by where I haven't thought about my dad. He'd be so proud of his grandaughter and great grandchildren.

oh boy, does your discussion hit home for me. My own beloved father will soon be going in for surgery to remove much of his esophagus. years of heartburn has caused a cancerous growth. He can not have radiation therapy because he has a myloprolific blood disorder and leukemia. I cherish my Daddy.

There are a few things that are the worse thing that happened to me being Raped at the age of 5 for 2 years, then again at the age of 15 I never ever told anyone in my Family till I was 27, I already had 2 Kids by then I told my Ex Husband before we got Married as I had been told I would never have Kids The 3rd worse thing was marrying the wrong Guy and trying to make the Marriage work for 21 Years, taking Verbal and Mental Abuse. The physical abuse stopped when he marked me and saw it when he sobered up Now I have to wonderful Kids and a Man that I have now been with for 3 years and who gives me all I ever wanted Love, care anmd security. We do not live together but he is always here for me, We where Friends for 3 Years before anything happened between us we lived 3 hours apart then, I met him working away for 2 weeks as I was working for him. We lost contact for a year and then he rang me and in that time I had seperated and was going through a Divorce and found out about my Illness and got bullied out of 8 year Job because of my Illness, he helped me and stood by me through all that. Oooopsssss sorry its so long Grandmaof2 Hugs to you and I hope you are ok.

Like they say there's always people less fortunate. Making marriage mistakes is something we've all done, but no child deserves what you had to go through. I Thank God I never had to go through that or my daughter either. I'm sorry but I just can't imagine how you must have felt. That truely ie terrible...

Definately losing my son after a rough pregnancy and him being born far too premature and all that came with it...we finally got him home after five months only to have him die 3 months later due to malpractice of all flipping things!

Sure makes a person wonder doesn't it. I've heard some pretty bad things reguarding health care issues in my time.

The most terrible thing that happened to me was when I was 5 years old and was raped by my adopted uncle, and he was never charged so I had to live with this and a reminder lucky for me I dealt with this and also that he moved to another state and so therefore did not have to see him very much and now not at all.

With the powerful love I have for children I just don't understand. I have serious issues with the justice system too. It sucks real bad.

I had an accident when I was studying in my 4th standard.I was in my mom's house on a vacation.I went to my mom's mother's sister house and I was coming from there to mom's house. There is a big slope which leeds to the front of our house and I just wanted to slide down from there.I started sliding and I lost balance and fell down.I fractured my wrist of both hands. It was the 3rd day of my two month vacation. You can imagine me sitting at home with out doing anyhting while all my friends are playing around.

I am sorry to hear about your loss. I have had many bad things happen in my life. I think one of the worst was when I found out I had cervical dysplasia. It was a horrible time. I had to have a horrible procedure done with a laser...and the pain was extruciating. I would rather have given birth again....I would not with it on anyone. Now they are giving young girls shots for it...but when I was growing up there wasn't anything like that...so I contracted it...and I don't wish it on anyone...It was horrible!

oh gosh there were so many bad things that happened to me that I don't know which to pick as the worst one. My husband having a nervous breakdown would have to be the worst period in my entire life.

I awoke from a sound asleep and waking to the smell of smoke. The two older children weren't at home, but my three preshoolers were. My four year old was at the bottom of the stairs and made it out of the house safely. His younger brother and sister were upstairs. As hard as I tried I could not get to them and neither could the fire fighters. My little girl was almost 2 and her brother was almost 3 years old. It has been 15 years now since I lost my two little ones in that fire. It's a hurt that never goes away, no matter how many years go by. The nightmares continue and I'm sure that they always will.

Thats awful grandma, Im sorry you lost you father at such a young age. I'm very fortuante that I haven't lost a loved one yet but like you when that time does come, it will be devastating. The worst thing that happened to me was when my mom had a heart attach 6 years ago. I was 7 months pregnant at the time, thats the most scared I've been. I'm happy to say that she made a full recovery and now enjoys spending time with her grandchildren. I wasn't sure how to answer this discussion, but that's the worst thing I've had to experience. If you want to know the worst thing that happened to ME directly...I would have to say...I was in a car accident in 1990. I was with some friends and we were late for school. The guy driving ran a red light doing approx 100km/hr. We hit a suberban and because I wasn't wearing a seatbelt I was ejected through the windshield. I did suffer serious injuries but I recovered well, some scarring on my forehead but make up works miracles. As hard as it is , its important to learn a valuable lesson amongst our hardships. For me, after my accident I learned to respect vehicles and the law. After my moms heart attach I learned to say I love you everyday, don't take it for granted that your loved ones already know how much you love them. Thanks grandma for sharing your experience and allowing me to share mine in return.

I believe the worst thing to happen to me was being married and then getting beat up by my ex, and I had to ask for help to get back on my feet. That really took a lot out of me; I was 33, parts of my hair was falling out, I was past stressed, got fired from a job, was far away from family and getting stressed behind that, and got beat by my ex. Of course, the police and state got involved, but he escaped by leaving that state and getting a divorce in his home state. I lost the kids to him through custody but thanks to Katrina and the girls decision, they are back with me; Sadly, it took a toll on my daughters and on me; I wish I could get that back. On top of that, after the divorce, come to find out that a recurring incident that was happening on my body was herpes. I took that real hard, but I thank God that I'm still here and doing well in spite of it.

I would have to say that the worse thing that has ever happened to me would have to be having my heart broken by my very first love. I was so in love with him and I think I still am and then he let me go, because he found someone else and then a month later she dropped him and then he came back but now I am broken hearted and feeling at my worst

The hardest thing that happened to me is losing my little girl after almost 22 weeks of pregnancy. She was perfect in every way but an infection started labour way too early and she didnt stand a chance. Losing a child is the hardest thing. You look forward to holding your baby when you are pregnant and don't expect to be burying them instead. Its now almost been 5 years ago but I still miss her every single day and always will.
