All through school and as a lil girl I have had extreme stage fright. I used to have it so bad that if I get in front of a group of people , my voice would tremble horribly and my mind would draw a blank. You ask "how did you get through under- grad and grad school?" I had to have a drink of alcohol before it was my turn to speak. " don't worry I am much better now. The funny thing about that is my professor in a computer class I was taking always appeared to be drunk. Maybe that was her solution to her stage fright as well...lol

as it is kind of fear to everyone but it is not the right solution of this that you have taken drink before going on to the stage for your performance because if everyone do so what is happening to the ginuine audience.stage fear is a probalem not for always, once you have stated giving performance or presentation on the stage, you will defanetly comes out the problem of stage fear.make yourself confident on what you have to say and not think that the other people of what they think about youself.you just make you own way .moreover makes you as a cool and tension free guy at the time to speak on the stage.think only that audience knows nothing they are totally nill and you have to give the knowlege of what you have so free of the tension of stage fear with this discussion.bye

well that is usually the case with me as well. even when i am well prepared, i dunno but the moment i hold the mike to speak, my mind goes blind, i falter, and i am not able to think aboout what i have to. but anyway, that's usually a case when you fall short of confidence. you can improve upon it, by practising regularly in front of the mirror an having other people judge you and improve on your mistakes. and yes you should think that there's actually nobody in front of you whle you speak, well i know that's pretty difficult to imagine, especially when it comes to practise, but that's the way it is. also, you should see to it, that you make yourself used to such discussions more. when you've had experience, it becomes a piece of cake.

I have always been a people person and never had a problem talking in front of big crowds. But my friend use to pretend that everyone was sleeping and not paying attention to her so she felt more comfortable. It worked for her I guess! LOL

i can get through it but not too well, i usually speak really fast and muck up on a few words in every sentence but i keep on going until i have finished, by which time i am usually bright red with embarassment.

Your solution to combat stage fright was extremely funny! hehehe
I too was pretty much a scareddy cat as far as public speaking was concerned. I never really interacted or spoke much with people and so was really apprehensive about the first time I had to deliver a science talk! I was really scared and wanted to drop out, but my teacher told me not to worry. She pointed out to me that the rest of the class, who were the audience, were tensed too, as their turns would be next to speak. She just told me to go right ahead and deliver that speech. Though I almost froze in the first minute or so, I recovered and continued to deliver the speech and got more confidence as time passed. Since then, I have never been afraid of speaking in the public. I'm so glad I stepped up and took that opportunity to speak and did not run away!

It depends on the group, I think. Sometimes you feel a little more comfortable than others. It is something you just have to "plunge" in and do. I don't think there'll ever be a time when I don't get those butterflies and have to really work to calm down and focus. LOL

I can sing, but somehow I have a problem talking. Like if I have a speech or something. I don't know why. Maybe when I sing, I just feel like someone else and can express myself better and I am entertaining. And maybe when I speak, I fear what others with think of me because I am being myself? I have never understood this. I am a shy person by nature, but when I sing onstage, I have no problems at all.

Actually, the reason I became a writer is that I'm horrible at public speaking. I do wonderfully in my rehearsals, run through everything and perform brilliantly. The one person watching me do a dry run is wowed by my talent. Then I get in front of a crowd and I become a stuttering moron who can't put two sentences together in spite of the rehearsal.

Yeah I have that problem. Accompanied by enarly passing out on occasion. This was only through highschool, where I had to speak to a whopping total of twelve people. Never tried the alchohol approach though. But hey if it works for them I don't see why they shouldn't be allowed to do it. Long as it doesn't interfere with theirwork.

I love to speak in public, teach people and make especially epoch-making speeches. I have been teaching since my secondary school and I still teach till today. I love to teach and speak. So, I can speak in front of a crowd - there is no big deal about that. I can even teach a professor what He or she does not know. It is eash when you have started it. But it will hard when you just sit and assume it is hard. Start it somewhere and you will find it very simple and easy to do.

Hmmm. I may say that back in college I do well when it comes to speaking in public like make some reporting and program speaking. I know some people who have that problem too but day by day they make it through. I think that is a good tip,.. drink before make a public speech.

i think this should be my worst part in life..there's no problem if im talking in front of large crowd if im using my language (malay)..the biggest problem isi cannot speak in english fluently...and my english is bad..i want to improve my english but the environment here is not very helping...because there's no foreign students or not many of them here to speak with..and all of us is more comfortable with our own language..but i will strive to keep my english improve because english is an international language..

I'm partly a talker and partly timid with an audience. Although, I've been in the ballet performing arts facing huge audiences, I still don't have enough guts to do so. I'm planning to join a group about enhancing public speaking. I like to improve myself a little since I was kind of living a solitary life. :)

I am still afraid to get up in front of large crowds and give speeches. I have found that the more I do it, the more comfortable I get. Many professional speakers will tell you that they still get a little stage fright when making presentations or speeches. My worst thing is that my neck will turn bright red when I get in front of people and make speeches. I try to always wear a top that will cover my neck. Also, most people in the audience don't even notice how nervous you are unless you tell them. Just always try to be prepared...but don't overdo it.

I've always had stage fright and that's really bad since I was a music major in high school - I was in the choir. LOL I couldn't even get up in front of the class to do book reports. I tell myself now that I could do it but I can barely manage to stand in front of more than 3 people at a time to talk to them about anything. Even the thought of doing kareoke scares me silly.
