Life on Mars + What would you do?

Life on Mars - Sam Tyler a 21st Century policeman finds himself in 1973 after an accident. Gene Hunt is an old style cop not afraid of pulling punches to get a result. Women at the time were often undermined, underused ignored and taken for granted.

This excellent series finished on Tuesday and was a really good British drama. This is about a modern day cop called Sam Tyler who was involved in a car crash in 2007 and went into a coma; he awoke in 1973 and is desperta eto get home. here's the website if you would like a bit more about the story. www.bbc.co.uk/lifeonmars Quite witty in places this is a story not to be missed, my only warning is that if you can remember the 70's it might make you feel 'old' What would you do if you awoke from 2007 to 1973?

its great i have only watched 4 episodes this is somemore info if anyone wants to know more Life on Mars is a British television drama series, which was first shown on BBC One in January and February 2006. The second and final series started its run on February 13, 2007. For the second series, episodes two and three had their debut showing at 10pm on digital television channel BBC Four, immediately following the previous episode on BBC One. The format of the series mixes science fiction - specifically, time travel - with police drama. The central character was policeman DCI Sam Tyler of Greater Manchester Police (played by John Simm), who, after being hit by a car in 2006, finds himself somehow transported back to 1973. There, he was working for Manchester and Salford Police CID as a DI under DCI Gene Hunt (played by Philip Glenister). Over the course of the series, Tyler faces various culture clashes, most frequently regarding differences in his seemingly naïve approach to policing compared to that of his colleagues. The series also features a strong ambiguity concerning Tyler's predicament: it was unclear whether he really has traveled back in time, was in a coma in 2006 and imagining his experiences, or if he was from 1973 but mentally unstable.

Oh, I am going to miss this show. There's a American version coming, but it won't be the same. About the best I can hope is that it will be good in its own way. I liked the ending, but I don't know if I could do what Sam did.

There's a lot of temtation to be 'nostalgic' if anyone found them selves in the past, you could cause (as they say) big ripples in time. Most of my aunt's and uncles and grandparents were still alive in 1973, I'm not sure what I would do to be honest. I would probably go and see my old haunt's and I would be tempted to change fate and tell my aunt Marie to give up the damned smoking, as that's what killed her the following year(s)

There was one thing that I forgot to mention that I was hoping to see: When Sam finally woke up, I was expecting him to look up the files on Gene Hunt and the rest. Then again, since it turned out he really has been in a coma since the accident, maybe the writers didn't want to say whether or not these people were real.

That would have been interesting to see.

Does anyone have information on when the second season will be played on BBC America? I really loved the first season and can't wait to see more! And now for your question, I'd be SO lost if I woke up in 73. Especially since I can't remember past the 90's LOL.

I adored Life On Mars, it was such a clever show, woth awesome music. Oh, and one can't forget the rather scrummy John Simm (on a side note, anyone else see the Dr Who Episode with Simm, Tennant and Barrowman in? Oof!) I think I probably would have done the same as Sam did. The only problem that I would have would be leaving behind my family in 2007. That must have been a tough one. Such a good show! I'm really sad it's over. Apparently there is going to be another series, called 'Ashes to Ashes', which is going to be based on a female profiler I think.

I think i would have probably done everything the way that sam did, Freak out at first then get the hang of it, Then come out of my coma, realise i didnt fit any more then jump of a building to go back. It really was a great show and a fantastic ending! Ive got the box sets but i will still really miss it.
