A person always smile and happy deep inside has lot of problems

What do you think of this? A person so happy and cheerful in front of everybody as if problems does not exist with them. But deep inside has a lot of problems to keep. Maybe it is true in my case I can say that I am like that always happy and makes a lot of jokes in front of everybody but when I am alone I am sad that always encounter problems. Pretending to be strong and don't have any weak points. I am just like that because I don't want anybody to be involved with my own problems. I just let someone know I have problems if ever I cannot really handle the situation.

I've known people like this. Is it defense mechanism? Not wanting other people, even friends, to know that that person is going through rough times? I think it's not healthy. Somehow, one should have an outlet to release these emotions and not hide under the guise of a happy face. If you can find someone you trust, why not share your burden.
