Could you defend your family in an emergency?

So many families are ill prepared to deal with emergencies. Do you know what to do if some one is breaking into your house? Call 911 right? But, what if they have already cut your phone lines.... Can you protect yourself? I am a believer in our 2nd ammendment...the right to bear arms. Can you protect yourself and your family from an intruder?

Im glad Im not one of those families you say are ill prepared lol. I have been in a similar situation, where I heard a noise in one of our bedrooms, I went to go check and I saw the outline of a person standing at the window, luckily we have a baseball bat in our room, used for playing baseball and nothing else, up until then lol. Anyway soon as I saw the outline I grabbed the bat and quietly snuck over to the window, positioned myself and whacked the person on the head, I know I whacked him pretty hard because he fell to the ground, and I watch him stumble up and run straight into our neighbors yard to short cut through, then i decided to call the towns only cop who congradulated me, by saying i did the right thing and I definetly know what I did, could have turned out ugly and I couldve been hurt or my kids. Since my husband was working the nightshift... I guess I got a lucky break... We have since moved from that terrible neighborhood now, we have a neat pitbull who loves to chase, bite and play lol....

yes I think that I am well prepared to protect myself and my family if someone intrudes. And yes I am also a firm believer in the rights to bear arms and I am in the country so yes it is locked and ready. I have several items around my house just for that problem, I have 3 doors in my home so it is very important to have yourself prepared, I also have an alarm so the minute someone comes on my property I am alerted before they even get close to the house.nowadays it is very important to keep yourself protected.

I live in the country too, and keep all of my doors and windows locked...even in the daytime! One can never be too cautious! Thank you for your answer/

I'll stat by saying that I am a bit more paraniod than most people I know. I sleep with my bedroom door locked and my cell phone is in the bedroom charging overnight, every night. I also have two dogs. One is old and has never been a barker. I looked around and talked to my friends and family about getting a mid sized dog that would be protective and bark if it heard anyone pull up to my house, moving around outside, or knock on my door. (We live a little out of town) I found a great dog who was abandoned in the desert. He is not vicious but he is very timid and barks at anyone who comes around. I know that even if I'm not aware of someone around he will let me know that they are there.
