Are you a morning or night person?

I had to drag myself out of bed this morning to my volunteer job preparing taxes. I was up until about 1:30 last night (posting on myLot, among other things!) I am a night person and just about useless in the morning. Unfortunately, society seems to be geared to morning people! Which are you?

Yeah, Mom's don't get to sleep in. That's one think I enjoy about retirement--no schedules except what I put on myself!

I've always been a night owl. I told my mom she should have known that when I wasn't born till one in the afternoon :). I never liked getting up in the morning. I'd much rather be up all night and sleep during the day.
I know the world does seem to cater to day people but that is starting to change. More and more places are open 24 hours a day which I'm happy for. I'd like to see everything that way but at at least some are. It's better then nothing. I remember when there was nothing open after 10pm. I think businesses are starting to realize not everyone is cut out for 9 to 5 work.

Wow we have so many similarities it's eerie....yes, isn't great that nowadays things are open just about 24 hours a day...I don't think I would want to sleep all day though...I was born 2:19 a.m.--think that explains why I'm a night owL?

On the whole, I guess I am a "not much sleep" person. I typically go to bed around midnight or later, and am back up around 6:30. I have been perfectly happy and functional on 6-6 1/2 hours of sleep for most of my adult life...
I more or less have to be available early in the mornings as I am an independent contractor (through the web), and some of my clients are on the east coast, while I'm in the west.
I work from home, and generally my effectiveness is greatest when the house is quiet-- which means early mornings before anyone else is up, or late nights, after everyone has gone to sleep. My biggest challenge is being productive while there are lots of ongoing distractions. All other things being equal, I'm more of a morning person.

I think you are the only morning person that has answered this discussion! But you do stay up late, so consider yourself an honorary night person! lol

I am not a morning person; I need about 5 to 6 hours of sleep. Then I am able to get up and the timing is about 7.30am. Nothing earlier than that else will be very tired.
I am a night person; I do not sleep until it passes midnight every night. I might doze off at 10 of 11 pm but will wake up again, then I will stay up till it past midnight, most of the time, I will spend my time on the net surfing or participating in mylot posting.

Oh I'm definitely an night owl...Up to only a year ago, I used to have really peculiar hours....maybe I just found it better to do my work at home projects at night and the wee small hours better for me as it's quieter then..I particularly loved writing late at night--that's when the muse really hits...but when I say peculiar hours...I used to go to bed around 9 in the morning--but then it was because I onlyl had stopped doing my work projects or writing around 6:30 a.m.--then watch a bit of tv..then read..I then got up around 4:30 in the afternoon...I still have odd hours but no where near as weird...for awhile I was getting up no later than 10 in the morning, asleep by 4 a.m...unfortunately now my hours are getting later again...since now with my computer I sometimes don't get off it until four so in bed late-ish again...I just wish I could juggle my time better but I always seem to have a zillion things I need to do everyday and get a bit frustrated when I don't get everything done I was planning on.
Even when I was a kid though I never was a morning person even then....my poor mom would have to call and wake me up an hour before was necessary since it took me so darn long to move out of bed... LOL

Why is it though that we night people are made to feel GUILTY about being night people...I mean let's face it..some of us do have different biological clocks than others--and it does seem though that we night owls rule here...hehe

I gave you another + rating dear. This will help you alot.
I am a night person. I hate to get up early and try to function, it doesn't work.
I love to stay up late until I cannot keep my eyes open.

I the try that thinks your wierd if you go to bed before two a.m. and if you get up before noon there is something wrong with you......I can't get up before eight a.m. of a morning...I always worked the night shift when I worked in the factory and I enjoyed it...
But when I had a job where I had to get up at seven and get to work before eight I was always wore out...Now that I'm retired I stay up on the computer almost all night and sleep all day....I am definitely a night person.

Sounds like you don't get much sleep, but you don't say you are always tired. I hope the schedule agrees with you.

I'm definitely a night owl, LOL. i can woke up real early but my mood is is not pleasant. I tend to be a little grumpy and just laze around staring at nothing. I'm hyperactive when night time comes. I'm usually here at mylot during that unholy hour. My mind seems to be on its best peak when the moon appear. :)

I'm a night person. Sometimes I can stay up until 2 in the morning. Unfortunatley, I have to get up at 6 in the morning. On the weekends it's kind of weird. I have a habit of waking up early. And I'm not a morning person?

I agree with you completely! I am definitely not a morning person! I hate having to get up and go to work. I love it on the weekends when I can sleep in. I do a lot better at night! I usually stay up late too. That may be why I don't want to get up in the mornings! lol =)

It never seems to make a difference to me. No matter what time I go to bed, I still don't want to get up!

Neither! I am always tired in the morning, and tired by like 10pm at night too! I think it's a side effect from having 4 boys and being pregnant, with my husband away. I'd love a nap though!
