I have to admit that I don't know many of the singers or groups in the 50s and 60s, but I love love LOVE the Platter's! Their songs were so beautifully written and their voices is impressive!
Even thought Unchanged Melody is a very well-known song, but I love "Smoke Gets in Your Eyes" and "The Great Pretender" more!

Thanks for your sharing, then. I would try to listen to some other singers you mentioned.
Oh! How could I forget to mention about Dinah Washington! I adore her voice and her songs so much! I feel my day is incomplete without hearing "What a Difference a Day Makes" once! I know that she had a duets with Brook Benton, whom you mentioned, but I've never got a chance to listen to that, I'll see if I have it on the CDs I have.

I was born after the 70s, but I absolutely adore many songs by Little Richard and Elvis! Whenever I see footage of them from their younger days, I am always in awe!

I miss them all myself, I loved, the chilites, the stylistics, the commodores, donna summers, abba, the bee gees, and on and on and on. Those were the days.
