I once knew a man that meant alot to me.One morning he left my house to go to work.He was running late so he was going too fast on this Harley. He hit a dip in the road, lost control, the bike came around and hit him in the head.He was brain dead the next day.We all talked about it and decided to donate Dennis's organs and anything that might help someone. He was 31 years old and healthy.
6 months later I met the little boy who recieved his eyes...It was a tearful meeting with his parent, myself, and the child's parents.
That was a long time ago.
Have you made arrangements to donate organs after your death?I have.I want as much of me used to help as many people as I can..I won't need the bidy I live in now when I pass from this world so why not help someone.
Do you have any thoughts on the matter.
Thanks

I agree wholeheartedly and have made it clear from the age of 16 that if anything were to happen to me they can use any part of me that might be useful - I have also registered as an organ donor! Sinc I will have no need of my body I don't see why it should rot in the ground when it could save the life or sight of another person! Another thing we totally agrree on honey! xxx

Nobody's gonna want my body parts with the diabetes and all, but I kinda want to donate my body to diabetes research. I haven't figured out exactly how to specify what I want other than in a will, but they're welcome to what's left of me when I die.

Well Raydene, If any of my body parts would be useful to someone else of course I would as I put out a discussion before you became my friend and I let the doctor give an autopsy on my little baby son he was only eight and a half months when he passed from this earth to our heavenly father and yes I would love to help others like my son he saved many other children of the world and through this he was not taken from me for nothing or even entered this world for no purpose the Professor to do this were from America they had flown to try and save his life but before hand had been infected with meningitis from a dirty nurse at the hospital.

if someone would find it useful, i'd donate my body as well as my body organs. just like you said, i won't be needing my body anymore so why not make the best out of it.
i have noted in my driver's license that i want to donate my body parts. i also informed my family that if ever, i would want someone else to continue living for me. my eyes or my kidney or even my heart will be left to someone worthy enough for it because the organ will eventually have to be transferred to someone who is compatible with it.

i have always felt it is always a great deed and a noble thing to do to donate one's organs after the person expires.i intend on doing the same thing too.i hope and wish that many people do the same too because we can help a lot of people by doing so and our family members can see the persons they miss so much through the persons who use the organs.thanks for this post.you have really started a very useful thread buddy.

Absolutely. I'm a designated organ donor on my driver's license. For a while I didn't have that designation. I was in a discussion about Fibromyalgia and Chronic Fatigue and because we don't know exactly how you get it I thought it best not to give blood or donate my organs. I still don't give blood, because I take so many medications. But I decided that if someone was desperate enough to need my organs they would be happier living with chronic illness than with dying. I still have a little misgivings about it. But there is such a need for organs that I'm back on the list.

i have been thinking of donating while I'm alive more and more
my girlfriend needs some kinda operation I think
new toenails or something
she is vain and cares about that sort of thing
I could spare some toenails, I don't need em anyway, wouldn't have to trim em or get ingrown ones anymore that way
maybe some other ones too

Oh yes definately, if I have any good parts when I die I want them to go to someone.
After all, I won't need them anymore. LOL
Actually, I like to think that if it was my loved one who needed an organ, I would sure hope that there would be a donor. Not that I want anyone to die, but if they did I would hope that they would donate their organs.

Absolutely not!, I would never do so because i would have no dignity and no honor when dying, only my organs and such being used for scientific experiments and also for other things. I hope that i never do so! I think people shouldn't do it but some should only for good causes, i don't find donating MY organs being a good cause but if someone would like to then it is okay as long as they wan tto.

Absolutely!
I never really gave it much thought until I took Gross Anatomy in college. It was one of my most fascinating classes. It was so great to be able to see the organs of the human body, touch them, hold them in my hands. It gave me so much more understanding than simply seeing them in pictures.
I decided then and there that there is no reason to take perfectly good organs and bury them in the ground to rot. What a pathetic waste of a resource!
How many blind people would be seeing now if more people donated their eyes? How small would the "waiting list" for organ transplants be if everyone would donate their organs?
I understand that there are religious reasons why many people don't donate their organs when they are done with them, I can respect that. I can't think of any other excuse though.
So now my bumper sticker says:
When I grow up, I want to be a Cadaver! :~D

It has, for many years, been noted on my drivers license that I am an organ donor. I wonder if one gets too old then don't they want them anymore as they are probably worn out?

I have it marked on the back of my drivers license and I have made it clear to all my family members that I want to donate my organs. If there are any worth donating when I am done with them, I will gladly give them to someone that needs them.

I am gonna donate my body after I die. Why would I not help someone else live since I am not gonna come back. I feel like people are very selfish when they don't donate because they are ontributing to make this world a badder place. Thanks for posting
