I have know my three best girlfriends since we were babies. It seems to me that although I have gotten many new friends over the years, these three will always stand by my side no matter what. Although we live in four different countries, we still talk a lot over Skype, we email and we try to meet up once a year or so.
How long have you known your best friend(s)? Do you think that the friends you have known the longest, are the ones, who will always be loyal to you? Do you think newer friendships can be just as strong as older ones, or do you consider these friendships to be more fragile?

Hum... I think that thre of my best friends today with my since elementary school. one of them even before that...
I also have one friend that she is the child of friends of my parents and we born in the same year, so we know each other since we were very young babies.
But anyway I think I met some very good friends few years ago and it doesn't have to be friends for life- but close friends from the past few years.

I cannot wait until I make some new friends here in Florida, it can be so lonely to be without your friends. I just find that it is very diffiult to create new lasting friendships, once you have past the high school age, where everything is about socializing.

I've known my best friends for about 13 years now, the other about fifteen or so years and honestly, I'd rather be alone. The one I've known the longest only cares about herself and partying, when I need her most she lied to me and we haven't talked since, it's almost been a year. The other one has no regard for anybody else most of the time, acts like she's the most intimidating person in the world and hurts my feelings constantly.
Sometimes I think I'd rather be alone.

It certainly sounds like you need to clean up in your circle of friends. The word friendship is supposed to have nice connotations, which does not seem to be the case when you think of friendships. I know it is so difficult to find new friends, when you are no longer in school, but I sure hope that you will be able to toss some less friendly friends out, and gain some new friends with a morepositive impact on your life.

Since I have many bestfriends, I'll try to trim down the best of them into three and then see how long have I known them-
One of them is my cousin which of course I had known since childhood, this one I'm sure will stay no matter how far we can be and how seldom we see each other. The other one is from my church which I had only know for 3 years now, and though we're "new" friends, the closeness we shared is like we had known each other for ages. And the last one would be a friend I've met 10 years ago, though we haven't seen each other for quite sometime now, we know that we will always be there when needed, we know in our hearts that we love each other.
I heard this saying before.."Make new friends, but never forget the old ones"

This is how I feel about my oldest friends, it does not matter if it has been years since we have last seen eachother or talked, but we will always be able to sit down and talk, as if we had c=just seen each other a few weeks ago. Another thing that I love about these old frienships is that we all know each others twists and perks, and we do not get mad at each other, when we see someone's bad side, because we know how this person reacts to certain things.

I definitely trust my three oldest friends, more than I trust any one of my newer friendships. Two of my old friends are twins, and since I lift next door to them, when we were growing up I almost feel like we are triplets.
We all make new friends, especially, since we live in different countries, but iut seems that no matter how good friends we make, they simply cannot be compared to the old ones, as we are almost like sisters.

very frankly speaking i really don't know whetgher i have a best friend or not. I thought him to be my best friend when he was by my side during a toiugh time in my life. Whatever trivial or major problem i had, he was always there to support me, to care for me, look after me. Things drastically changed when I shifted to another city. He has started avoiding me a lot. May be now I believe he came like an Angel to my life to solve my problems.

i've known my best friend since we were 4, we're 26 now. I think she'll always be loyal to me. I think newer friendships can be as strong but it takes a little time. my best friend and i have been through alot but our friendship always came back together.

For me my best friends since high school are the people I could say are my true friends that will stay for long because eventhough we often talk that much and see each other we knew in ourselves that we are here for each other no matter what happen. I think its alright having new found friends but in my opinion old friends stays forever.

I have known my best friend since I moved to the US in 1994, so half my life now. We have had bumps in our friendship and have spent time apart but are back being friends now and stronger than ever. I would trust her with my life and nothing will separate us again. She is my first and bestest friend here in the US.
