I wonder why so many people are afraid of sharks. Even when they have never actualy seen one they cringe. I have seen them in giant aquariums and find them fierce looking. They scared me as they swam near the glass front of their tank. Their one saving feature was the graceful way they swam.

I'm not afraid of sharks... But I'm prudent, and when it happens to me to swim off shore I always take care of the possibility to meet such fish! The reason of such painstaking is that their behavior is not so predictable, and they are supposed to attack without being provoked. If you have a bleeding scratch on your skin and you are on a boat in the ocean you don't bath, of course, but this is not fear, it is just prudence methinks.

Hi. I did not think there were sharks around Italy. I have been to Italy and never heard of sharks being discussed. I am going back for another long visit to Italy in August so please let us all know where they are.

"Jaws" set a big tone that sharks should be feared, but I think what really did it for me was all of those people getting eaten out in Florida. They can't even go to the beach without having a shark nibble on their toes.

Now there is a new movie comming out on DVD this month. It is supposed to be more scarey than JAWS! It will be a reminder for me to stay away from shark waters.
