To be honest, I do not smoke. But just maybe some tips, specially to a friend who said: Once a smoker, always a smoker. He tried quitting smoking but to no avail. To the one's who really made it. How do you quit smoking?

Did we realize, for addicted person, even just read this topic will make them want to smoke right now. What we call this feeling? It is sensation :) i think. For me, if i wanna quit doing something, i'll just do it. Just be strong :)

I have a friend whose smoke addict. Believe it or not, he rather smoke than eat. For him, smoke is part of his life. When i ask why you decide for smoke is very important, simple answer he give to me, "i don't have anything else to do, when smoking i can relax my mind". Pity for him.

I got few friends who tried to quit smoking and they use nicotine gums... But eventually I think it only work for a couple of weeks because I haven't seen any of them who quit permanently... they just tried... but couldn't resist.

there is also nicotine patches available... you just have to attach it to your body like a band-aid. It's supposed to be the one supplying nicotine needs of one who is already addicted to it... instead of smoking you just have to patch yourself up. not at all a bad idea

I have never been a smoker, but what I do understand is that you have to have will power, there are many additional things that can be tried from nicotine patches and gum, to hypnosis and accupuncture, it's probably that combined with the willpower and desire to stop smoking that all of these would compliment each other. I don't think for a moment that it is an easy thing to do, but I do think it is possible.

I was what you will call a chain smoker once. I have thought nothing would ever make me stop smoking, not even cancer if I somehow get it. I was an addict, and not worried about it. Then, my girlfriend said one day, "....I would really to give my life to you, but I am not sure because, I value my life and will it be worth to give it to a person who don't even value his?..." I stopped smoking that day. I believe an encouragement from the loved one would be a real great help. Well, that and cartons of chewing gum :) However, not only encouragement to stop but support to go through the withdrawal phase is of ultimate importance. I was cranky for weeks. The slightest of thing will make me angry, depressed. My GirlFriend, Mom and colleagues suffered through it. I was an addict then, am an ex-smoker now. Sometimes the craving comes. but the frequency is getting lesser and lesser. All you have to do is take one day at a time. Sit still when the craving comes, it will go away. I know somewhere in the future, rather than identifying me as an ex-smoker, I will be able to tell people that I am a non-smoker:)

yeah why not? giving much importance to one's life rather than one's pleasure. i do believe encouragement from the people close to you helps but most importantly is the determination to live longer. thanks for a very nice thoughts.
