i do..at home we have 2 big bags, one for biodegradable and the other for not...because, every night when the garbage truck comes around, they dont have to segregate all the trash that people are trowing at..although they still stay long near our place to segregate all the stuff.

Yes, I try to do some degree of recycling.
I'd separate the junk papers from the rest of the garbage we throw out. Also, I'd separate the used bottles made of glass or plastic and put these together.
Food waste and other stuff are just thrown away together.
I wish there was a more comprehensive recycling arrangement where I live so that I can do more recycling thereby doing more for the environment.

we do seperate ours now. We have three bins one for stuff that can not be recycled and two for stuff that can. I havent yet got to the point where we do seperate within these categories but its a start

Yes, I do. At home, our landlord has provided us 3 big bags for biodegradable, non-biodegradable, and recyclables, and a bin for food left overs. We also do the same in our home at the province. It's one way of helping our environment, doing away with the unnecessary stuffs cluttered around.

We separate (for the most part) the recyclables from the rest of the garbage. Although, sometimes I'm not sure if it should go in the recyclable or not. Like for example, if you use a paper plate, should it go in the recyclable since it's paper, or should it go in the regular trash? how about paper towels?

yes, I think every one should do it, and I know it was being imposed here in Mtero Manila, Collection of garbage is seperated also like a certain day for non-biodegradable and a specific day for bio degradable. It's good so I practiced it at home too..although there are times that I forget it,mu husband is good at it though.

We have 3 garbage containers in the house: recyclables - glass/plastic/cans, etc; regular trash - paper, foil, non-food trash; and then trash/waste - food, peels, etc.
We are not able to compost, we do not have the space as our backyard is almost non-existant.
We have 2 trash cans that go to the curb on the same day but are picked up separately. The recyclables I used to take to the center and get the CRV back on them (In CA you pay an additional fee for each recyclable container you purchase drinks in and you get it back when you turn the empties in) but now my MIL gives them to a neighbor kid. If you drink a lot of sodas in cans or anything else in cans or bottles it can add up after a while at .05 to .10 per can/bottle

My mom will store all the vegetable waste in a big hole in the backyard of our home and use it as fertilizer for her plants.Other garbeages like food waste will be stored in a dustbin which will be thrown out daily and mostly the corporation people will come door to door to collect the waste.

I do separate my garbage at home since many things should be handled differently. I think it's very good to recycle what we can from our trash since it's not all biodegradable. I was very happy when our apartments finally started a recycling program for the residents. It's fairly easy to keep bottles & cans separate, but we also sort paper products and some plastic containers since many of them can be recycled too.
When my daughter was in elementary school, we even got a program set up to recycle all the "waste" paper items we could from the classrooms. It was really nice to see the kids bring in old newspapers and old class papers to help their families start recycling too. The proceeds were used to provide a few extras for the school each year. I'm happy to say they're still doing it, even 10 years later. :D

well, here in our place, garbages will not be collected when they are not being segregregated. but sometimes, the collectors dont really implement that that's why, mostly people still throw there rubbish where biodegradable and non biodegrable are mixed up. i honestly would have wanted to do something that could help but as i think through it, it's pretty useless because even the collectors themselves are not doing anything about this segregation program!

This is a good system, as the part of the garbage can be recycled in this way. This system has not yet started in our area. So I do not need to seggregate the garbages.

We do. It's because our city is strictly implementing the segregation of garbage.

My family tries to recycle as much as we can. Normally we feed all our leftover food to our three dogs. We seperate plastic, paper, aluminum, and so forth. We have a composite pile out back for items that nature can take care of. My girlfriend reuses glasses bottles and plastic jugs that come with lids on them for different things. We try to find more then one use for everything.
