Hi friends, I am sure 50% of people in this world are working in offices, thus doing nine to five job every day. Isn't it so boring and monotonous. Life becomes routine cycle, like a machine you get up in the morning, you reach office, you work like everday.....waiting for 5 pm so that you can pickup your bag and run away out of this jail...no excitement, no adventure.. yeah but we have no choice, after all this nine to 5 job is giving us SALARY.......LOL

I work in a MNC company. My company is quite flexible in their working time, as long as you're around between 9am-4pm, you can come and go anytime. Well, some people take granted and come as late as 11pm and leave at 6pm, there is no punching machine here.
However, working 9 to 5 is not an issue here. Our culture is performance oriented culture, so you can guess the competitiveness in our working environment. There are also people who works until mid night and come back early the next morning. We weren't paid overtime, but it is more to achieving our career expetation/target as it would be how our performance being evaluated.
As long as I found job satisfaction, I won't mind how long I spend on my works.

I don't know the culture of your company. My bosses and supervisors here changed quite often. Most of the boss here are open minded or at least they are willing to lead you to the correct direction. For example, when i feel that i am no longer interested in a certain project and i felt bored, I can tell him in a face-2-face meeting (2 person). Have a formal or casual talk that the job that u are doing doesn't really match your interest or capability, and you can optimise your performance. Sure your boss will ask what is your field of interest, sure be prepared about all these questions. Even if your boss couldn't help you, you should know what do you like or dislike. If there is no way to perform or enjoy in ur current job, why stay?
For your info, bosses in our company will still be evaluated by his subcoordinate. His performance will be evaluated if most of his subcoordinate rate his as "not a good listener", "bad in decision making"..etc..

well everyones life is a routine.Tell me one person who is doing new things daily.Everyone does the same work daily. If you go to office than it is routine or if you work at home than alos it becomes routine.Even if you study it is routine.People tend to get bored of life doing the same thing again & gain. But this is life dear & work has to be done.Best thing is to control this boredom & try to find innovation in your work.

But people who keep travelling must be enjoying more than us. Even the tour guides must be having more fun as they are all the time moving around and visiting new places. Of course we too don't want to keep moving all the time, but just once or twice if we would go for long holiday, may be thing will look better. Thanks for your response.

"Monotonous Life" .... I believe this to be so, however I think we have the ability to change it. I would not stay in a job if it becomes routine. I like to be challenged & I'm always looking to learn and move forward, when this is no longer an option for me at a job, me staying is no longer an option. lifes too short to be stuck. Look for something else that will challenge you:-)

I know what you mean. Sometimes it just gets so boring that I have to take a break and call in sick every once in a while. LOL. I just want to take a vacation but it's so expensive and I'm frugal when it comes to spending my hard earned money.

I used to really like my 9-5 job I didn't always work those hours but for the most part I did. I didn't mind it and it was nice but it seemed like when it came down to wanting to go to lunch or something like that I had to work around my work schedule and meetings, and other work related functions. I love my wahj now and would not trade them for anything. I get to work when I want and if I want a a day off I get it.

yah.. but again.., this shouldnt be the way we expect this to be, we have to enjoy our lives to the fullest.. not to make it routinary like what we do evryday.. we just have to break through all of these things.. if we can just live life in simple ways.. sometimes our jobs occupies our time that we lose the time to enjoy what should be enjoyed... well i just want to share what is running in my thoughts.. Godbless..:-)

Thanks for your blesseings.......lol, Yes you are right, I should be thankful to God for at least having a job. It is our human nature, when we have something we start complaning about it without realising it worth. So from today I will stop complaining and enjoy my job.......Thanks.

Life do becomes boring and monotonous if you take up the job too seriously. There are many ways to overcome this boring routine. The first and foremost wy is to make office ur homelike by befriending ur companions.Don't get too stressed if the job assigned to you is not done.To maintain your cool is the best thing.I personally feel that we should try to earn maximum between the age of 23(or when we start earning) toll 40.Then we should start our business. The next 40 years will be yours.

Yes to some extent you are right. When you know what you have to do, then it makes life more easy.we may like a bit of change, but I think to remain with usual routine is more safe. Thanks for reply. It is good that your excitment and adventure is with you.....have a nice day.

I agree with you.. I work 9 to 5 now..I feel so boring. At first I am working in a shift where sometimes it is 7 to 3 or 3 to 11. I feel tired and always jealous looking at some people who work in the office with the same routine everyday. So now I got a job that give me what I want. Working 9 to 5.. Only less than 6 months, I started to feel bored.. eventhough my working place is so beautiful with a view to the ocean. But the workload only allow me to enjoy the view for 1 hour during lunch..LOL.. But as you say, still no choice yet.. Beside, the salary I got now is bigger.. so its okay!
