I agree with what victoria had to say. I have never done the Atkins diet but it does take 20 min for your brain to think your full so eat slow don't rush. Drink a lot of water with your meals that helps to fill you up. Eat a lot of veggies as well they dont have many calories and they fill you up also. When I was dieting I made sure i exercised at least 4 times a week. I would walk at least 3 miles or do exercise videos. Walk away the pounds with leslie sansone is a great way to lose weight and tone all body parts at the same time. Good luck

See the post on "how to lose 20lb in a week" or something it´s called. I mentioned the Atkins Diet. I am not a lot overweight, maybe a UK size 14 (US 12) but I wanted to lose my spare tire and maybe half a stone and the Atkins diet was nice because I could still eat unlimited cold cuts, dairy, fish, cream etc but lose weight. WeightWatchers program is good too because NOTHING is banned, you just count calories (as "points"). Don´t bother with soup diets or juicing, if you´re used to eating what you like you´ll feel hungry and deprived. Try pleasant exercise like walking or swimming or a sport you like. Drink AS MUCH WATER AS YOU CAN but add a little fruit juice to make it nicer. Drink teas too, regular tea (not with five sugars!!!!!) or herb or fruit tea. When you eat chew every mouthful 15 times and NEVER eat in front of the TV. Remember your brain takes 20 minutes to realise your stomach is full. Eat slowly.

dieting is mostly about control- you have to be able to set rules and abide by them. but allow yourself some room for fun! dont give up on your fav foods all at once, take it one day or week at a time, depending on your needs.
limit fats, oils, sugars, and some carbs. carbs are ok in moderation. protein is good for you. take vitamins. but talk to a nutritionist if you want a plan specifically for you.

I agree with much of what was written here, except the Atkins diet has too much fat and cholesterol.
And despite what Atkins says, carbs are not bad at all, you just want to eat COMPLEX carbs instead of simple ones. This means eating whole grains, vegetables, etc. They are good because they have fiber and help you feel filled up.
Also, fats have more than twice the calories of carbs and protein--fat has 9 calories per gram, carbs and protein each have 4 calores/gram.
