What are some tips on taking kids on an airplane? I have a 3 year old and a 19 month old and we're taking our first plane trip (2 1/2 hours) this weekend.
What are some tips to keep them quiet and occupied in such close quarters?

Make sure first of all neither have an ear infection because at those ages that is common and the pressure can hurt a great deal. Make sure they are sucking on something when taking off and landing. Chewing gum is helpful but at that age not as good. If the little one is on a bottle give them the bottle during take off and landing. Anything that you can think of that they like to give that sucking and swallowing action for the pressure. Also bring toys that they can play with on the plane. Make sure it isn't a ball or something round because if they fall on the ground you won't be able to catch them. Bring munchies and drink for them just in case you have a problem with taking off due to weather issues or such things. If they are both potty trained make sure they go before getting on the plane because those bathrooms can be scary for little ones. If they are bring extra diapers and wipes. I know this sounds like you should bring the whole house but you want it as comfortable for the children and you as possible.
