I am trying to figure out when to fertilize my vegetable starts for the first time. I have several different kinds of vegies...tomatoes, artichokes, brussels sprouts, edamame, chives, basil, celery, and cauliflower. I need to move my tomatoes from the small starter pots to larger plastic pots but I don't know if I should add fertilizer yet. Any advice here? Thanks!

Normally seeds carry all the nutrients they need to grow to a certain size. I have never fertilized my plants that I have started until they were in the ground. You could use some compost tea if you really need to due to the starting and transplant medium that you are using. Good luck with this. It is work but it is so worth it.

I started my plants in a seed starting mix...Sphagnum peat moss and perlite. Should I use the same mix to repot my tomatoes? Is there something different I should use that me be less expensive :)? How do you make compost tea or do you buy it? Thanks for the help

Well, my brussels sprouts are withering up and dying. I have been trying to research what is wrong. About 1/3 of them look to be beyond help. I will fertilize them today with the hope that they are in need of some nutrients since I started them in a soilless medium. I hope this works! I REALLY don't want them to have some kind of disease. I don't what kind of disease attacks plants that were only planted from seed 3 weeks ago and have been kept indoors. SO MUCH TO LEARN! :)
