can you share your friends or family's spectacles?

Recently I left my glasses at a friends house. I need my glasses for any close up work that I do. And also the computer. Without my specs I was stumped. I tried my mothers and my husbands and that did not work. Then I tried my grandsons, and they worked just fine for about 2 hours and then had to take them off again. I have my own glasses back now. (i will be more careful in future). So I am back in business.

You can, sure, if they're the same prescription. If they differ, even a little, though, you'll end up with headaches, disorientation, or other discomfort because they aren't tailored to your specific vision problem.
Now there really aren't all that many variations in prescriptions, so there's a decent chance your family members will have similar prescriptions to yours, but outside the genetic family tree (i.e. friends and coworkers) you're not as likely to find compatible spectacles.
