What is Scientology?

Scientology is a religion created my science fiction writer L. Ron Hubbard. I did a lot of research on this (I love wikipedia!) and from what I have read what it boils down to is this. Scientologists believe that an evil alien was the ruler of the known universe. There were too many people living in his universe and so to fix the problem he froze them, brought them to earth, placed them around the base of several volcanos, and destroyed them. Then to keep their souls from returning to where they came from, he placed collection units over the earth and sucked them up. Then he took the souls and taught them things that confused them and left them on earth. The confused souls called thetans then attached themselves to the cavemen and cause confusion and misery among humans. These thetans still live among us, and only scientologists know how to make themselves "clear" and to get rid of these thetans. The aims of scientology are:A civilization without insanity,without criminals and without war, where the able can prosper and honest beings can have rights,and where man is free to rise to greater heights. Hope that made sense.

Scientology is a cult. Although the basic principles are excellent as it can teach people to overcome obstacles through human empowerment, it is provided only through giving lots of money to the hierarchy.
