Your right there has seemed to be many recalls lately and its starting to make me wonder if we the people should start worrying that everything we buy is being tampered with. In this day and age only god knows what someone could be doing to foods we buy or whatever else. God knows what the next recall will be but if there is another recall then maybe the government should redirect funds into finding out whats going on with all these products being recalled.

How much do you want to bet this is due to outsourcing?
Most big American companies that move their operations overseas are doing so because they want the biggest profit margin possible, which means they don't really give a rat's behind about the people they sell the items to back in the USA. As with the pet food issue, I gbet this gets traced to some country where the standards for pollution and employee's rights are muc less than here.
You get what you pay for.

It is amazing, isn't it? I like what the Commissioner of the FDA said (ref. your 1st url link):
"FDA is committed to informing the public about products that may be contaminated and can potentially cause illness."
Personally, I take exception to a comment like that, because if the FDA is truly committed to informing the public about such things, we'd be getting such information BEFORE problems arose where possible....and that just is not being done. For example, the FDA "allows" ingredients like Aspartame, MSG, GM (Genetically Modified) food products or ingredients, when numerous studies have provided substantial evidence of their dangers regarding human consumption. Indeed, many European and other countries will not import many American food products because of such ingredients! What do THEY know that OUR "protective agencies" DON'T know...or aren't "informing" us about??
Please visit my blog for more about these "poisons".
