DISH Network vs. CABLE TV / myLot

I'm thinking of switching from Cable TV to DISH Network but cant decide. Which do you prefer and why? Can i still get VOIP with DISH network?

I have the Dish Network and love it, it is about the same as Cable, perhaps we get a few more channels, but the problem we have is when it storms the Dish goes out since it sits on top of our house. Unsure what VOIP is but if you write to me I can tell you if it is on the Dish Network.
