It would be great to be able to measure the speed of thoughts. Actually, experientially, thoughts are above the head, we bring them into our brain. Weird statement? If you were to meditate and slow the mind to a point where you watched them come in you can see they are like pancakes that drop in. Try it and see if you have the perseverance.
Above the head there are layers and layers of thoughts, like a superhighway of speeding, flashing, electric currents which are thoughts. It is fascinating. One of the fabulous things that happens when you meditate is creative thinking, it's totally amazing. I know you're supposed to have no thoughts when meditating, but in those times when you do have thoughts, in this state of stillness they are brilliant.
You can get into states where clear thinking happens, where you can tap from this source of creativity.

Thank you for your comment. Meditation is a discipline of the mind. Many great saints and personalities spent their morning mediating the word of God and acquire an attitude and lifestyle that is superior to ordinary man. Meditation is the field where the word of God is planted and harvest of good deeds. I met a priest who can exude great peace in a retreat. I believe the fruit of his meditation is excellent. Explore the mind. Your are doing great.

Thoughts are fleeting, and it seems when you have a good idea, if you don't get it down on paper right then and there, you can never write it again in just the same way. I find computers can sometimes frustrate that effort, when it cuts off without warning, and you lose what you were writing. No matter how much I thought about something, it never comes out the same way twice. Or I hate when I have an idea in bed before falling asleep. I know that it will be gone tomorrow when I wake up. Good thing that these thoughts are not in limited supply!

Thank you for your discussion. Many people live in the world of thinking. The mind is their wealth. Some good ideas can give you a fortune. There is a mind field that needs to be explored. I believe there is great achievement in the thinking process.

Catching a mind with a pen is not quite succesfull for me. As for me, when I want to write something in my head, the first thing I do is record my voice in a recorder, and then I write them.
Just like a reporter, interviewing my own brain.
