Let's just for argument sake say you've just now checked your lottery ticket and it is definately a winner, you have just won 10 million dollars what would you do in order of what your priorities lay? In a sense I hope I never win the lottery because I fear my old ticker couldn't take the shock. Really !!!

My first priority would be to give to the Church, then I would get out of debt and fix up our house and sell it. I would buy acreage and build a few homes on it for ourselves and our friends. We would have a parish community of our own design. If there is enough money left I would also get my friends out of debt.

That is something fun to think about! I would first pay off all my debts including student loans. Well actually first I would QUIT MY JOB! lol. Then give some money to everyone that has helped me out along the way. I would also buy me a big house and a hot pink corvette! But of course give some to charity... I saw the pic and I thought it was sooooo cute!! I just wanted to leave that comment also!

Oh I think I could take the shock and the money with it. If I won the ten million dollars, the first thing I would do is take a long holiday while I decide how to spend it. I don't think I could keep it all, as I wouldn't have any use for such a large amount of money at my age. I think I would distribute it amongst my family or just leave it in the bank and let them live off the interest.

Pay off all debts, put about 1/3 in permanent savings, spend about half a million on things I might want, give away about a half a million, use a good chunk of it to trade in the financial markets. Of course, taxes would eat up about a third of the winnings. I am sure my heart could take the shock..lol.

This is fun! I was thinking about this earlier today, in fact! First, I would pay off all my debts and then all my relatives debts. Then everyone would get a new car and lastly, I would build my dream house, build my school and travel, travel, TRAVEL!! LOL! And maybe I would get a LapBand and bribe a doctor to replace my knees, haha! What would you do?

What would I do ? Well hon I think I'm going to get started early, I think I'll start praying that you will take me in as one of your family members. LOL You mentioned you'd pay off all debts and relatives debts and everyone would get new vehicles WOW LOL. It just doesn't get any better. I need a private doctor too. OH do we make good friends. To answer you properly I would do pretty much everything you said, except for travel, I'm scared to fly. SO ???

If I ever won that much or just a bit of it, here's what I would do. 1. Pay off house 2. Build a very nice home for my family. 3. Spend whatever monies it would take to get the best possible help for my son, CJ, who's Autistic. Have live-in speech therapist, etc. 4. Pay off other families homes, debts. 5. Buy or build a home for my mother so that she could be close to us and have 24/7 help for her as well. I love my mother dearly but wouldn't be able to live with her under same roof...LOL

Go see a trusted financial advisor. First I'd pay off the income tax on it so I don't get screwed with that later.I'd probably pay off my house, set aside college funds for my kids (that I don't have yet) give some to charity. Then the rest I would invest. Depending on what was left, I might change jobs... do something I LIKE to do instead of something that pays the bills. But 10MM isn't as much as people thinks it is, and at my age, 10MM won't last me comfortably until retirement.

Well, after taxes that leaves about 7.5 million, not too shabby! LOL I'd pay off our house, I don't know if I'd want to move or not, but my hubby probably would. There's another argument because of money! LOL Then I'd put money away for my kids' college education. There goes a huge chunk, having 3 kids. Pay off my parents and my hubbies parents houses, and invest the rest. I may give a little to my sister, but more than likely not, her salary alone is equal to my hubby's and mine put together and she is always complaining about being broke, which leads me to believe she can't budget too well. LOL And I'd donate to the Jessica Lumsford foundation.

Win the lottery - Swimming in money, winning lottery.
If this ever happened to me I would be giving all my family and friends a good deal of money, I would want to share with the people that I love. I would hope that they would do the same thing . I do not have a lot of things to pay off right now so I could really enjoy my self with this, nice dream to have!!!!

The first thing that I would do would be to call a really good financial advisor. This person would be the best qualified to tell me if I should take the payments or one lump sum. Also, I thin that an advisor would be helpful in letting me know how and where to store my money because I'm sure there are a lot better things to do rather than simply put my money in a savings account. The second thing I would do is buy a house. I don't think I would get a really huge house because I know that I don't really like houses that are too big because they feel empty and not all that cozy. I would also look into getting houses for my mother and sister so that they could live near me. Once that was taken care of and I was settled in, I would travel. There are so many places that I would want to go and so many things that I would like to see but have never had the money to do so before. Some of the places I would want to go are Japan, Ireland, Italy, and Iceland. The nice thing is that with all that money, I know that I could stay in places that are really comfortable and I could also hire a private guide to get a real insiders look and help me with any language barriers there might be. When I was done traveling, I think I would like to get a few dogs and maybe even run my own dog rescue. I would still work to keep myself from getting bored, but ifI could afford it, I think I would mostly do volunteer work.

Well, I have always told my guy if we win the lottery I am having a lot of kids. I love kids, I have two, now, but want more, we could probably afford 1 or 2 more, but 2 would be pushing it. I told him I would have about 5 or 6 if I won the lottery, but other than that, Maybe buy a house to accomodate a family of that size, save for their college, and pay bills, I dont think I'd do anything extravagant, as it can go as fast as it came.

First, I'd pay off all our credit cards. Then we'd buy or build the house of our dreams; something large and luxurious on 10 acres or so of land. I'd buy my husband and I each a new car or two. I'd buy my sister a divorce and a house near me, along with a new car and a college education. I'd get my mom a house wherever she wanted and a new car. Putting $100,000 aside for each child's college fund would be next. Then I'd new cars for my grandma and my aunt. I'd buy the youth football and cheer organization I help run a piece of land and build them the facilities we so desperately need. Alternate if I was feeling particularly adventurous: Divorce the spouse, build a new house on lots of land, get a tummy tuck, get a new vehicle or two, and then do all the other stuff I said.

Wow, this is a great question! First I would pay off all of our bills. Then I would put aside a massive amount in savings. Next I would donate a large amount to my favorite animal charity. Then I would have a glass of champagne and celebrate. AFter that I would keep on doing what I'm doing now. I would not move, I would not buy a fancy car, and I would not quit working.

First thing I wouold do is take my mom shopping. I lived at home until I was 21 and for those 21 years my mom made sure I had the neccesities. We were never rich but I always had a full stomach. Don't get me wrong I had a job and helped out financially too but none the less I would love nothing more than to buy my mom a new house and a vehicle. Of course I would also have to give her a million dollars to afford gas for her new car. LOL (were Canadian..fuel is outragous LOL) Second I would pay all my bills...I often fantisize what it would feel like to be totally debt free. Third I would build the home of dreams. I could afford to sink a little extra into my floor plan since I wouldn't be buying myself a new vehicle...we just bought a new van in October. Fourth I would Give My mother and father in law a million so they could travel and I would buy them a new vehicle too so that they could get their safe and sound. Ok so I've already spent...3 million (my dream house is BIG) I would give each of my children (age 3 & 5 now) a million..in trust of course. I would love the opportunity to donate a million dollars to a childrens charity...something like war amps or a childrens hospital. OK 4 million left...I would travel...invest and the rest would go to my personal chef and house cleaner....I wouldn't want to be the one cleaning my dream house!! LOL. All jokes aside, I would much rather help my family (inlaws too) and help children in need rather than buy expensive houses and vehicles for myself. As long as my bills were paid I would be a happy woman! Oh how its fun to dream...

Hi there Grandmaof2, I had to laugh at your comment although in your case it is not funny. I have ALWAYS said that "if I won the lottery, the excitement would give me a heart attack" But what would I do? I would move out of my apartment into a nice condo very quickly. I would make sure that both of my children, my grandchildren, family and a few select friends would not need for anything. I would give money to charities and invest so that the future would be secure for my grandchildren. And I would go to school to learn the florist business from the ground up and open a shop. I love flowers! Take care now...

Well I think I'd join you and have a heart attack...just kidding--first I would set up some of the money and have various funds like CDs, Keogh plans etc--then make sure all my debts were paid off...and I would definitely move to my dream home, and go full blast with my work at home business...setting up a number one quality photowebsite..the kind I really would like to have to sell my work on-line...just because I would have all that money wouldn't mean I wouldn't still want to work...I think all in all just knowing I did have so much money would be such a sigh of relief and not have to scrimp and save and budget anymore...well not like I do now anyway
