Meditation... is it different? or same as prayer?

How many have gone through meditation? Some say that: "A half hour of meditation every day has been source of wisdom and peace for those who practice it. It has its purely natural and spiritual dimensions. Even those who practice it for its natural benefits, away from the effort of prayer, have found tremendous benefit from its practice." Would you like to share your thoughts about it?

Well I personally don't know about prayer as I don't actually pray. I am spiritual but not religious.
But I have found that meditation does have its benefits as meditation can be used in all sorts of different matters, it helps to calm yourself and your mind which is good if you have an overactive mind, it also helps to look into yourself for answers to questions you find yourself asking a lot of the time, "what do I want to do with my life" and so on lol, and it also helps to prepare you for challanges to come as it helps you to be more sure about yourself and what you are doing.
I do know the concept of prayer and I think they could be considered similar in some justification, they both require a person to take time out of their busy life to stop and reflect on what has passed and what is to come, so I guess to me the difference to them could be found in weather you look to a greater power or look to yourself for your your answers.
