How old were you when your parents left you home alone for the first time?

Was it out of necessity? I remember being a latchkey kid like I'm sure many of you were too. I moved in with my Mom when I was 10 and came home by myself and stayed alone for about 3 hours until someone came home from work. That's the way it had to be. I had lots to keep me busy during that time though. What about you guys? Do you think I was too young? Just right?

I was in middle school (or junior high) my Mom left me alone with my older brother for the weekend while she went to Reno, my sister came over every evening and would make us dinner and stay the night (she was 13 years older than me so she was more of adult figure to me).

I remember my parents would let me stay home while they walked around the block after dinner, and I was about 7 or 8. I went to an afterschool care place until 5th grade, then I'd just walk home afterschool. Probably around age 10. I was a good, responsible kid though, and didn't get into any trouble. They probably could have kept me at the center or had me watched, but we didn't need it. I remember staying home by myself during the summers in probably 6th grade.
