i just accompanied my sister back to the salon where she had her hair relaxed a few days ago. Last night clumps of hair began to fall out and now she has one-inch clumps sticking out of her head--the rest of her hair had fallen out. thankfully, the upper part of her hair is still intact, but the ends look frayed and dead. i wanted to give the hairdresser a piece of my mind, and had the urge to pick up a blowdryer and throw it at him when he started to say that the hair will grow back, and that we only needed to be this dramatic when we finally see scars and open wounds festering on her scalp. if this was the US we'd be preparing to sue but the Philippines is the Philippines.Grrrr. I would sue, definitely, if he does this again, Philippines or not. Some people here are just so lucky...

That is terrible. Did your sister see a doctor for this condition? I would sue the salon if they did something against what the instructions specify on the hair relaxer. Is your sister allergic to the hair relaxer?

thanks. i dont think that she was allergic because she had it done before in the same salon and it went fine. the difference this time is that they had low water pressure and there wsnt enough water to rinse the chemicals off her hair...they had to use bottles of mineral water that they had someone buy from the supermarket across the street. :( at least we know that it wont happen again, since we wont be going back there again

I understand that you are angry about what happened to your sister. It is important for salons to train their staff well so that they're always sure that the right things get done. On the other hand, this might not be the hairdresses fault at all. Maybe your sister's hair is sensitive to the chemicals they used. Suing would take a lot of time and effort from you and your sister. How much compensation do you think you will get? Do you think it's worth the time and effort? Maybe you can go to the manager instead so that this person can be reprimanded. As you have said his attitude sucked and was not apologetic about all of this.

yeah, the best thing to do now is make sure this doesnt happen to us again. i may not be able to sue, but i can try making sure this does not happen to other people. i've told some of friends not to go to that shop. still, it sucks.

Even in the US, this case would only be viewed as small claims court, and the likelihood of actually being awarded any damages is small. Unless, of course, you were to go on one of the TV shows, such as Judge Joe Brown, et cetera. The only thing you can do is wait and let the hair "grow back"

yeah...i think we've resigned ourselves to letting her hair grow back , since its clear there's nothing more we can do. lesson learned, at least :)
