Washing with warm salt water is better.also some pain killer, ultimately go to a dentist and get advice. Pain is more than a hellish experience.

I was told that rinsing with warm water and hydrogen peroxide helps..but I never tried that...you can chew bayer aspirin directly with the tooth that hurts..I've seen a friend use that and it helped...you can also use a warm towel on the side of your mouth where the tooth is and that calms the pain and throbbing down..

believe it or not, garlic works. problem is, you'll get one hell of a breath after. but that shouldn't be a problem. perhaps, you may counteract it by chewing off parsley or mint leaves. garlic is also an antibiotic/

Put a pod of clove or a cotton swab dipped in clove oil over the aching tooth. You get relief from the pain.

just sleep. hehe. just kidding. a pain killer would be the most convenient. but when i was young, my mother would get a cotton swab, pour some perfume (i think it's BRUTE perfume for men), and place it on the affected area. i was not allowed to talk or anything. i had to keep it in place by biting the cotton. believe it or not, it worked for me.
