Are cold drinks replacing the role of water in our lives?????????

When I go out with my friends in the restaurant or parties the waiter ask us for water or for any cold drink.
We have to prefer a cold drink as the water from any tap cannot be trusted.
Are cold drinks really taking the place of water?
