I was just reading the news where a 61-Year-Old man adopted a 41-Year-Old woman. What do you think of adults adopting adults?

there must be more to the story then old man adopts a woman 41 years old. is she sick or unwell and he wants here to have his help. does he want to help her out by leaving her an inheritance legally who knows these answers. now i'm curious to know more instead of trying to guess about it...

According to the article they were co-workers at a central Florida school. Quoting from the article "Wilkey said he never had a child of his own, but always wanted one. He said he found the perfect daughter in Beam." http://www.wftv.com/irresistible/11618445/detail.html

That would be weird, wouldn't it? I generally assumed adoption is for people who need parents. You know someone who can feed you, change your clothes, take you to the bathroom, er.. Oh wait, that's what old people need too! :D Somehow I don't see it working in this particular case. I mean at 41, honestly, is not that old to need someone to take care of you. I think it would have worked better if the 41 year old woman adopted the 61 year old man!

What if someone was like a daughter or son to someone and they wanted to legalize it? Maybe the person never had children of their own?

Nothing offense if it is legal, the old man may feel lonely or have passions and affection in mind and have ability to adopt one adult person so he did it. This is sometime generous that if one rich adult adopt a poor adult so that whom he adopted may find a way to live well.

well don't that just take the icing off the cake thanks for letting me see whole story and now think that they're a pair of nuts that might just belong together. they really could have just stayed very good friends without going the adoption route. well what ever turns their crank i guess. if they are happy then i guess enough said may they both be happy in their matched rocking chairs... lol

I think that it sounds pretty odd. I read where that Prince guy (Zsa Zsa's husband) was wanting to adopt Anna Nicole Smith. That's just perverted cause they were sleeping together, but I don't know about this case. My cousin was raised by her dad's 2nd wife and her bio mom was out of the picture her whole life. When she got to be about 30, she filed the adoption paperwork herself for her mom to legally adopt her. That was really special for them.

Adults adopting adults is better for community under a strong legal agreement and mutual agreement.

I heard somehow before that a person may adopt another or an adult if the age difference is at least 18 years. I think it depends upon the laws of the country where they reside. But in this case, I think they better marry if there are no legal impediments or perhaps there are so they might just be circumventing the law for them to be together. Anyway, if it's not illegal, the man may adopt the woman in this particular case.

Would you mind elaborating a little one that? I'm not really into the entire one line reply here.
