I feel its gonna be Matthew Hayden or Jaques Kallis. Hayden and Kallis have scored over 400 runs and hayden still has atleast three games in super 8's and one semi final to go, so given his fantastic form this season i feel Hayden has a great chance to be the top scorer.

I feel its going to be matthew hayden as the top scorer at the end of this world cup. He has got games to go in super eights and one semi-final for sure and if his team goes to finals as well then he'll surely be the highest scorer and most likely the player of the tournament as well. His recent form too suggests that it will be difficult for anyone else to overtake him at this point in the world cup, he just needs to cash in this oppurtunity to the best of his abilities.

Just watch out, Matthew hayden smashed another century in the game against new zealand. He's only around 70 runs short of breaking Sachin tendulkar's record for most runs scored in a single world cup.

I definitely feel that is going to be matthew hayden considering his current form and the way he plays the game so demolishingly and elegantly. He is full form during this world cup. There was a critism on selecting him for the world cup with his poor form prior to world cup but he has proved everyone wrong by letting his bat do the talking. I feel that he will win the most valuable player award this world cup.

I completely agree, hayden has shown tremendous form this season in the world cup where it matters the most. With more games in hand than other contenders he is surely the favourite to take the honours of being the highest scorer in this world cup.

Jacques Kallis (South Africa, Mathew Hayden (Australia), Jayasuriya (Sri Lanka) and Scott Styris (New Zealand) are the contenders for the top slot in this edition of the world cup. With all the above four teams are expected to make it to the semi-finals, these players will have a chance to reach the top.
Styris has the highest average of 126.33 and he is also consistent. Kallis and Styris has scored 1 century and 3 half-centuries. Hayden and Jayasuriya are absolutely in a good position as they are opening the innings. Both of them have already scored two centuries and one half-century in this series so far.
Most likely, it will be Hayden at the top.

You are absolutely right dude. Hayden has got more games in hand and given his fantastic form this season in the world cup he has a great chance of being at the top. The fact that he's opening will have a big impact too as he'll have time to play long innings too. So yeah i too feel Hayden has and edge at being the top scorer this time around.

Sure if aussies make it to the final he'll definitely be the top scorer. But even before that he's got atleast three super eight games and one semi final game so he has all odds in his favour right now, its upto him to grab the opportunity.

I think Jaques Kallis will be the top scorer in this world cup. I think he has averaged about 50 in every game. Not only does he have to concentrate on his batting but bowling as well. Eventhough Hayden has more games in hand, i don't think he will get big scores.

I don't see any reason for Hayden not getting big scores with even more games in hand. He's the best in the australian team along with ricky ponting in terms of getting big scores and he has already shown that with his rollicking for this season and in the world cup too. So i feel he's at the top right now to be the highest scorer.

Kallis too is looking good in this world cup and he's the second highest run getter after Matthew hayden. But after losing to New zealand the South africans seem in a bit of bother. On top of that Hayden has almost double the number of games than Kallis excluding the finals. So it will be interesting to see if anyone can better Hayden before the finish.
