I'm SO sick right now! I have a temp, stuffy nose, red face, sore throat, and body ache... normally I wouldn't be such a baby, but this is in addition to just hitting the 39 week mark, and I don't want to go into labor while ill... do you think the human body will wait to heal before putting me through childbirth, or am I just wishing?

I dont want to scare you but have you been to the Dr as it sounds like you need to, you definetly need to be keeping your temperature down because it is not good for your baby. I got realy sick at approx 34 weeks and ended up in hospital hooked up to all kinds of monitors and had to have cold flannels and fans on me to get my temp down (it was 41.9) , drink water, take 2 paracetamol every 4 hrs and get to your Dr as soon as possible.

I second her response. If you are runny a fever then you need to see or at least call your doctor about it. Cause it's not good for the baby. :)

Yikes... I don't think it's that bad! My temp has gone down today, and I haven't taken anything but fluids and vitamin C... My hubby was sick first.. he was over it in 4 days, so this being day 2 for me, I think I'll wait it out before going to the doc. I hate medicine and I think taking meds right now could be worse for the baby than anything else, since I'm not running a fever anymore. Thanks for the advice... I'm so sorry that happened to you!

I hate to tell you this but, I think you could still very well be sick while in labor. If I were you I would call my Dr. and see what he wants you to do, because some Dr.'s want you to come in when your sick in your preg. to make sure they can rule out anything else it could be related to your preg. Just to be safe that is what I would do. My SIL had her baby on March 11 & she has a high risk preg. too, but, she had a temp. and aching all over etc. the DR.'s office thought it was the flu-- but it was related to her preg. everything is fine and the baby was delivered and is healthy now.. but it's always better to be safe!!

It's definitely not pregnancy related, because I caught it from my husband! I can just imagine being sick in labor, though... having to blow my nose through contractions, lol! It's supposed to snow tonight, so my plans for the day include staying warm, taking hot baths, drinking loads of vitamin C and watching television. My temp. has gone down, but the sore throat and stuffiness is still there... I'm not due for one more week, so let's hope all this sick business is over with by then!

I have a crappy immune system for various reasons, and when I was pregnant I was sick all the time. Every single time I went to the doc I would wind up on machines to monitor everything just to make sure none of my illnesses were affecting my son. It was a very rough experience!
I do hope you get feeling better before time to go into labor! To be honest, I've never heard of anyone going into labor while having a cold or flu or such, so maybe the body does try to monitor that! It doesn't hurt to hope at least. =p

Go see the doc ASAP if you haven't. Even if you think you're feeling "better". I made the mistake of going too late and ended up having pneumonia! I had to take lots of antibiotics and all kinds of meds. I did get better before going to labor and thank God, my baby's ok. I hope you feel better soon. It's hard at this time cos' your immune system is so low due to the pregnancy. It's easy for you to catch stuff. Take care.

oh no! I'm not sure, I know at this stage it's hard to eat and rest as it is, so you might have a harder time to heal. Your stuffy nose might be worse than normal because everything tends to swell towards the end. Have you talked to your midwife? I know you have to pee every 10 minutes as it is, but I'd drink plenty of fluids. I hope you get better!
