I have been furiously working on my income taxes for the past 2 days...they are due on Monday since the 15th falls on a Sunday...I always have the information gathered and just have to sift through it and get it entered...Does your country ( if not from the US) have such a thing? A yearly tax you have to prepare and turn in by a certain date? If you live in the US do you procrastinate or have you had yours done since February. I think often it depends on whether you will be getting a refund or paying a little more!!! I put it off because I was certain I would be paying...but I had been really good at calculating it all this past year and came out with them owing me $37.00...that's perfect for me..I'd rather keep my own money all year and invest it my way rather than overpay them and have to get the refund at the end of the year with no interest. How do you do yours? Do you like to get the refund and run out and buy something special? Or do you invest it, save it..or have to pay more?...And with the internet making it so easy to file on line do you use the TurboTax or FastTax..or do you take it all and have it prepared for you? I am very interested to know if other countries have any thing like the IRS Tax we have...so tell me...how about you and your taxes?

In regards to income tax for us here in Australia this does not have to be done until the starting of July, as we await our group certificates to come in from where ever we have worked through the last 12 months, and for a lot of others that work for themselves well they will have all the paper work there and then we have until the end of October to have our tax papers into our taxation office so at this time of the year we do not have to do anything thank goodness. I also used to do our own tax papers which then was a lot faster and have them FastTax which if we were owned any money then we would have the refund within 14 days but otherwise we knew out outcome and would pay back the taxation office.

i just use Turbo Tax online to do my taxes. I think i spent the most about 1, maybe close to 2 hours, and that was mainly filling out forms.
it cost me $30 to use the program, but i'm getting back over $600 in refund.
i don't mind getting the refund at the end of the year, but i may keep in mind with what you said about not withholding taxes throughout the year. that may be something good for me to look into.
