Preventing blisters with slip on shoes?

How do you prevent blisters while wearing slip on sneakers like vans, converse, and keds? I see people wearing them without socks, but whenever I do it, I end with terrible blisters. Any tips?

Well the best way I think by which blisters can be avoided is by wearing shoes which are a bit loose.About me I try to avoid leather shoes since I am not confortable with them and they also get me blisters especially in summer.As soon as there is no need for them,I change to sports shoes.Also I think use of cotton inside the socks stops blisters.
