I think my most expensive sole purchase was for a long time getting my wisdom teeth out! They cst me more than the car I was driving at the time! Later on I bought a Montero which cost me an arm and a leg and I remember feeling physically ill as I was signing the paperwork!

Whoah! That surely costs a lot! How come it didn't cost me that much when I had my wisdom tooth taken out?

I don't remember what it really was but I am pretty sure I bought this one whole set of Harry Potter books from book1 to book5... and it came from my own money. My brother bought me the 6th book when it finally came out.

Wow, that's nice! I wasn't able to purchase all of the 5 books though, it was all given to me (in hardbound) by my best friend who now lives in California =) except for the 1st book (the only paperback), which my older sister bought long way before Harry Potter became so so popular ;)

Wow! Great job on buying your own house and car from your own pocket. Well, buying your own house always have remaining balances so it's okay ;) Atleast you are able to pay for it.

Aaaw.. that's sweet ;) It's the thought that matters, no matter how expensive or cheap the gift is.

The most expensive item I have ever purchased was a Blackgamma Mink Coat that currently has a value of $10,000.00, and yes, I paid for it with my own money

Definately my camera. It was £500. I'm only 18 and i saved up for about three years. Buying one camera then selling it on to get a bigger one. Now i have the Canon 400D and i'm soo happy with it. A proper camera at last! But now i need to buy a car so it won't be the most expensive thing for much longer!

My computer; I was about to mention a Dooney and Burke purse but to be honest, this computer that I am working out of was the most expensive item that I bought; I bought it in 2004 for like a bit over $550. I don't regret it, but I sure wish I bought two! because too much use for one little one; that will be my next goal.

the most expensive thing i bought with my own money would be my cellphone. i got the money from my allowance and gifts from my godmother on my confirmation day. my cellphone has a 2mp camera which makes me take pictures in an easier way because i have no digital camera.

Being expensive, counted as the amount of money paid for some material thing, is relative in its meaning for me. The only thing I will consider as really expensive is something that I did not derive any pleasure or the least of pleasure, if any. I could pay 100 dollars for a simple pizza meal, and perhaps you will say that it is expensive, but if for me it tasted heavenly, then it is not expensive. You could say it definitely cost me more, but not really expensive if the pleasure I got for paying it is that immense and perhaps, immeasurable.
I have also paid almost nothing for something priceless, like the fulfillment I get when I give even a very small amount to charity. And at some time, I have felt being ripped off after paying some pennies for something that turned out to be useless for me.
Being expensive is a relative concept. As long as you think you paid for what something is worth, then it is not expensive. And if you think you paid more that it is worth, then indeed it is expensive.

When i was 14 I bought myself my drum set. It took weeks and weeks of babysitting money to earn enough for that lol
