What are some of the most unique ways of asking someone out?

One of my friends told me that his friend got asked out in a pretty cool way. Her favorite movie was Little Mermaid, so the guy decorates her whole backyard into a Little Mermaid scene, with everything. She came home to a huge surprise, and loved it. You just need to be creative, think about what they like and do something with that.
