Religion/afterlife...sorry, touchy subject,

I was very close to my grandmother, she passed away a few years ago. She was an athiest. I was brought up catholic. I don't want to believe she is in hell because she didn't believe in God. She was the most wonderful person I have ever known. Please help me out here, what are your thoughts on afterlife?
