Hi!
I know many of you have had discussions deleted and I thought I'd start this so that everyone can rant about it.
I started a discussion about bad a bad experience at the dentist and I also responded to another discussion about the same thing. Both discussions seem to be missing. I don't know why they were deleted. I never mentioned any names or used any kind of disgusting language. Similar discussions are still posted and were not deleted. So, I wonder what rule my discussion violated.
So, has any of you had a discussion deleted?
I hope this discussion doesn't get deleted, ha ha.

You do? I'll have to look for it again. I went through 2 pages worth of my old discussions and couldn't find it. It must be way down there.

You're right, it definitely is there. It was not there this morning, perhaps a computer glitch. I even did a keyword search and didn't see it.

A couple of months ago I had a discussion deleted because it was "too close" to a discussion someone else had started.
Actually, it was deleted (I think) because they had identical titles, but the content was QUITE different. However, a friend of a friend noticed that my title was the same as their friend's and evidently reported it without actually reading the content. Or maybe she was just upset that I used the same title.
It bothered me at the time, because I was fairly new to the site... and thought people were being overly "touchy." After all, I've been a forum moderator in web forums for 12 years, and have seen MUCH worse stuff copying and plagiarism than what gets the axe on myLot.

That's really strange because there are plenty of discussions that have the same title that don't get deleted. I think you're right about someone complaining, I think that gets more attention than the actual discussion.
I had someone whine to me that my discussion was the same as his, but it really was different on all accounts. It was just a similar subject. I don't see where two people can't talk about the same thing. It's when they copy other people's work that's the problem.

I dont have any of my discusions deleted. Mylot should send a alert to the topic owner if the topic gets deleted. So that we dont do the same mistake again.
Its great that you remember all your discussions.

I agree, I think they should send an alert to tell my why they deleted it. That way, I can learn something and not make the same mistake. Often, when a discussion is deleted it is a day or two after it is posted and many people may have already responded. That's not fair to them, either.

"They" say that deleted discussions go against myLot rules, but I'm like you. I've seen some that I felt should have been deleted that weren't. I don't really know how that works. I haven't experienced this yet. Have you tried to contact myLot to see if they could explain it?

No, I don't think I'm going to contact them as I don't think I will get a response because they don't tend to respond to these types of discussions. I can't see where it violated guidelines in any way. It was just a rant about a problem I had a the dentist. It did not mention any names or call dentists bad or anything. It was just that I had a problem with one I visited yesterday. But, it must have raised some kind of flag.

Someone just said that they found the discussion that I thought was deleted. I didn't see it all this morning and I couldn't find it when I did a keyword search. I'm going to look for it again.

ever since the end of last month with the mass deletion - i have been very careful in what type of discussions i respond to - so i will not lose points. But the past week my post count has been going down by 4 points each day. It is really getting on my nerves.

I think at the end of the month they do a cleanup. I have also been noticing more members getting banned. Last month, my post count went down because a member I responded to a lot got banned.

I think they might be doing some cleanup and adjustments. I've lost some money from time to time. Most of the time, though, it doesn't go down much. I'm on every day so I haven't experienced a long-term absence or large loss. I haven't heard of anyone losing all their money because they weren't on for a while, yet.

i am also having a fear that if i don't do any more activities on mylot for a while my earnings may drop to zero. So far, it has already dropped 2c last night - because i was busy studying instead of posting. In fact, i did make three responses and did some rating but didn't get paid for them.
