With the latest GST hike from 3% to 5%, and the increase of salaries of the public sector. A lot had taken place in such a short time.
What are your opinions about what should had been done? Do you share the same view that the increase in salaries of the public sector is made too soon after the GST Hike?

First of all, the GST hike from 3-5% was done years ago.
Second, the increase of salaries of the public sector has got nothing to do with the GST hike.
Why would you link them together?
What do you mean by my opinions of what should have been done? Announcement of whichever one is first doesn't really matter, does it?
If salary increase was announce first, then the GST, people will say that after the salary increase, they need to increase GST to deal with the salary increase.
If the GST increase first before the salary increase, people will just say that the government is preparing for the increase, that is why the GST is increased first.
There is no win win situation, no matter how you look at it.

first of all, i must say I am NOT a public servant and also do not feel comfortable about the recent increase in salary for public servant.
i cannot relate public service pay increase with the upcoming GST hike from 5% to 7%. Both are largely 2 different matters, although both involve tax payers' money.
Furthermore, the GST hike will only be implemented in July, whereas the increase in salary of public servant will take effect in April.
