Are you still able to watch The Boat Race from other parts of the world?

England is so boastful isn't it? I think it is great because I live here. We have an annual boat race on the Thames between the University teams of Cambridge and Oxford. We call it 'The Boat Race' like there are no other boat races to compare with it!! Have you moved abroad and can you still support it? Do you have a boat race in your part of the world?

We often have boat races along the Liffey but none to compare with the Oxford and Cambridge boat race. I have often watched the race on BBC tv and I once got the opportunity to see the start of it live when I was on holidays in London. It is a facinating sport to watch but I doubt I would ever have enough energy to be a part of it.

That is the trouble with watching the race live - you can't see both ends (because of the bends in the river - for our overseas friends) as it is a race over a few miles. I have only ever seen it on television.

Yes, we have... I live in Siracusa, Italy and we have an annual boat race: five boats, one for each historical part of the town (ancient Siracusa was called also the Pentapolis=Five Towns by the Greeks)Ortygia, Epipolis, Neapolis, Tyche and Akradina. The boats must circumnavigate the island of Ortygia, the most ancient part of the town that is connected to the rest of the town by a bridge. But in Itay we have also the historical race of the four marine republics: Amalfi, Venice, Genoa, Pisa that take place in one of this town each year...
