Pete Sampras Vs Roger Federer

I was a huge fan of Pete Sampras and I believe he is the greatest tennis player ever. I also think that during his era he had some great opponents including Andre Agassi, Pat Rafter etc, who prevented him from winning more majors. So now people are saying that Roger Federer is the best ever tennis player, but I don't think there is anyone near his level, which is why he is winning all the majors. I do think he is one of the best but I don't believe he is as great as Pete Sampras. I'd like to know what other people think.

I love "Pistol" Pete Sampras more than any other tennis player in the world.I agree that Pete had many great and tough opponents in his time than what Federeer has now.Federer is winning many of the tournaments he is playing because he does not face great rivals.Only Nadal of the present generation is close to him.He is not as great as Sampras.

I am a die hard pistol pete fan, however i can't consider him as the greatest ever because of one simple fact: the French open. His inability to win the clay courts of Paris is the major flaw to his greatness, with regards to Roger Federer, if he battled with the early 90's version of sampras he would lose however if it was late 90's sampras he would win, that's why for now I don't want to compare them coz currently roger is at his peak let's wait till he the hands of time get to him and then let's compare. With regards to not having decent opponents for roger to play against, I disagree with that it's just that roger has the uncanny ability to control the ball, however he does have an achilles heel: one named Rafael Nadal on clay, so that that's a great adversary if I may say so

For me Roger Federer is the king of all stars past or current, adn as far as opponents are concerned there are like Nadal who are their but its the class of him that made everybody think that he is not getting a class opponent and thats the best thing about him, his technique is quite cool aswell as his game play and stamina, for me he is the best every tennis player the word of tennis ever seen atleast yet.
