Tell about your religion!

There are many religions and everyone has a view about what is right and wrong about each religion. I would like to see people who have a passion from their religion to tell something that makes their religion the right one for them. You can describe anything about your religion, like what attracted you to it, why you believe what you do, is your whole family the same religion and anything else that you feel like sharing.
I think this would be a good way for everyone to appreciate the different religions and maybe see something they have never seen through someone else's eyes.
Let's try to make this a pleasant discussion and learn about each other.

I'm a Celtic Reconstructionist, which is a form of Paganism. I first learned about this religion from my great-grandmother when I was a small child, though other members of our family were of different religions.
The thing that is most important to me about my religion is the personal relationship I have with the Gods, but there are a lot of other things that I like about the religion. One thing is the huge focus on personal responsibility. There are a few general guidelines, and sometimes the Gods might ask something of me personally, but for the most part I am expected to make moral decisions based upon their impact on myself, other people, and the world. That's important to me.
My religion is also interesting in that actually following it requires a lot of scholarly research. It is essentially a reconstruction of the religion of the Celts before Christianity came to Celtic lands. Some of the details of how early Celts worshipped can be dug up from historical documents, and others much be pieced together, from what I learned from my great-grandmother, and from personal revelation and practices of similar peoples.

"Our Father" These two simple words mean a lot to me. You see, I grew up without one. I always envied the other kids who had a family. The ones who had fathers who took them places and attended football games and school functions. But mostly, I envied the kids I knew in church. I would watch as they sat next to their dads. They would whisper to each other or the father would quietly and gently them to be still and respectful during the service. I would have given anything to have someone in my life that would give me that kind of love.
I get that kind of Love from my Father who is in heaven and loves me with the kind of unconditional love that you just can't get anywhere else. A Father who forgives me when I do the things I shouldn't and don't do the things that I should. One who loves me so much He gave His Son to die on the cross so that I could one day be with Him.

I am a Christian, but not a member of any organised church. Iwas born into a Roman Catholic family. However for the last few years I lost my faith in that church, and decided to follow the Pentacostal belief. Neverthless I don't attened their church. I believe in the Heavenly Father, his only son Jesus our saviour and the Holy Spirit. The trinity which is God. I believe in ressurection and the final verdict, not to say I believe in heaven and hell. I rely upon God for everything. God is my refuge. He leads me in my life.

I am an atheist and my parents are Buddhist. I think the reason why I chose to take the views of an atheist is simply because I'm the kind of person who likes to think that I'm the one who is responsible for my own actions and my own mishaps. And its also because I don't feel like it will change my life in any way whatsoever if I decide to choose a mainstream religious life. I'll still be the same person that I am and I'll still do the same thing that I do everyday. And also I consider myself to be somewhat of a lazy person so I don't like the thought of waking up early in the morning and heading out to church, because it'll make me feel like I'm sitting in my boring world history class.
But in the end I really don't think religion matters much. It's only a believe and should be treated only as such. If we try to make more out of it, then it becomes a serious discrimination issue.

I agree and that was the point of my thread. I was just interested in what the different religions were and I am glad people are doing just that and not judging others for their belief. I do have a question for you, I am a teacher and always curious. Do Hindus still practice the old Caste System or has it changed with the times?

I'm a Pentecostal Christian. I don't follow it strictly because my views on the bible are a litle different. They consider the bible to be the utmost authority under God. In fact, they believe that it is, in the very least, the inspired word of God. Some people take it as the literal word of God. They also believe in the gifts of the Pentecost. Those are the gifts that the apostles received in the book of Acts such as speaking in tongues, prophesy, divine healing, and I can't remember the rest at the moment.
I originally went there because of my family, it was their church. I also like that the church, in general, are pretty accepting that people don't have the exact same views on everything, though some people can really push you into thinking their way. I also like that we don't do a lot of rituals in order to be able to attend the church or take part in their activities. And, finally, I believe in the gifts the the apostles received in the book of Acts. I also believe that there are people that have those gifts.

I am a Muslim.ISLAM in general. Its a beautiful religion.I am proud and thanks Allah(God) that i was born as a Muslim.Life is a worship. In life,we are order to worship Allah and obey his command. After our life in earth,we have another life ahead of us that will not last. After enduring and conforming to certain laws in Islam,we will be rewarded in our next life.A great reward we will get if we obey all the rules. If not,we will regret later. Each of us are responsible of our own final reward.Laws are created to make life better, safer and more tolerable for us.We have been placed on this earth to worship God,Pray,Fast,Be industrious, good, kind, respectful, and a source of uprightness and morality. We are told that God has no need of our worship. Our worship cannot increase the kingdom of God nor add to his power, however,it is in our best interests both in this life and next that we do.Islam teaches that no colour, race, tribe or lineage is better than any other.Islam teaches that all humans are equal in the sight of Allah.
Islam..
*Testify that there is no God except Allah and Muhammad is the messenger of Allah
*Establish daily prayers.
*Pay Zakat(Charity for poors)
*Observe the fast in the month of RAMADHAN
*Perform Milgrage in Makkah if we afford to
Faith..
*Believe in Allah
*Believe in his angels
*Believe in his book(scriptures)
*Believe in his messenger
*Believe in the day of jugdement
*Believe in the divine decree (Divine fate) whether good or evil
TO WORSHIP ALLAH(God) AS IF YOU SEE HIM,FOR IF YOU CANNOT SEE HIM,HE ASSUREDLY SEE YOU!
I LOVE MY GOD!

I am a Hindu and am a follower of Advaita. Advaita means Non-dual, i.e. there are no two things in this universe. Everything that is, was and is going to be, is God. God's nature is Existence, Consciousness and Bliss Absolute. The basis of everything in this Universe is God. Just as in a film, pictures are superimposed on a screen, we forget the screen and we are concerned only with the projected figures, we all forget the basis of everything on account of ignorance.

funny question since i am now trying to find a religion to have my children believe in. i was born catholic but i find that they are a little too strict and money hungry. i am going to try out the methodist church and the reformed church. i was married in a reformed church and my grandfather was a member there. my 4 yr old goes to preschool at a methodist church preschool. both those religions seem a little more laid back. i just want my children to believe in god and have faith that isnt too scary or strict.

I am a christian a Roman Catholic to be exact. I am God fearing. There might be several religions around. Each of these religions has there own beliefs and practice but they have one thing in common, which is believing on someone whois above all things. Whose there to guide us and help us in times of troubles. Someone we praise and thank. For providing us life and the things we need to survive in this day to day living!
