as a medical technologist, I work in the laboratory at a hospital. i trust blood transfusion because we properly screen it with HIV, HBsAg, HCV and other blood transmitted diseases. But a doctor said to me one time that even how compatible it is to a patient, it is not guaranteed 100% it will survive in the patient's body (the blood I mean). that's why as much as possible not to receive a blood transfucion, do it. But if not, theres no other way but to have one.

That is a biocompatibility issue...This is more serious considered in inventing a new implant material and artificial organs such as heart...
As for the blood transfusion, I had an information from one of my friend who work in a hospital lab - he's doing the blood screening job...
According to him, the method that we're using for Blood screening is the ELISA method..ELISA method cannot be 100% sensitive to someone who is just started being infected by the virus (HIV, Hep C and B)..only after a couple of weeks, when the virus become active in that person body (in his blood), only then the ELISA method will become 100% sensitive to detect the virus..
But anyway, my friend told me that the possiblity of this to happen is really2 small and almost to zero possibility...

yes i do...blood from blood banks is tested for hiv, hepatitis b,c , syphillis, etc, cross matched and only then it is declared safe for transfusion.just take care that you get blood from government blood banks and not some private blood banks
