Okay, before I get flamed, it is a temporary tattoo. LOL I got it for my son in one of those 50 cent machines and my husband put it on our son yesterday. Isn't it cool? LOL
Do you think getting temporary tattoos for kids is a good or bad idea? Do you think it will encourage my son to want a real tattoo when he is older? I had temporary tattoos when I was a little girl and I am no way interested in getting a real tattoo now or ever. I guess I got my fill of them as a kid. LOL

No I dont think it will encourage him to want a real one! I have 2 real ones now, and dont rememeber ever having a temp tat as a kid! MY 5 year old is really into tattoos and says he "wants a dragon tattoo on his belly when he grows up"! LOL so maybe i should start getting those temp tattoos on him to discourage him. LOL!!

Hehe. My son is only 10 months old, and I put a little doggie temporary tattoo on his cheek already once. It was kinda cute.
I don't see anything wrong with temporary tattoos for kids, but then again, I don't see anything wrong with real tattoos for adults either. I really doubt that one leads to the other though.

I don't see a problem with temp tattoos. My son is eight and gets them all of the time. In fact, he was one when I got him his first one. The only rule in our house are that if he gets one he has to wash it off before going to school because they are not allowed there.

It doesn't mean he's going to get one just because he likes it. I mean anything can happen. He can't get one if you don't let him as long as he's living under your roof. I mean I put on a lot of temporary tattos when I was a kid and even though I still do I'd never get a real one. I still get temporary tattos.

As far as I know it is okay. I used to always wear them as a little kid and I am not interested in getting a real tattoo because I think they make people have impressions of you. I don't see anything wrong with a temporary tattoo because it can be washed off. Have a nice day.

Yeah its cool and good too. At least he will start to see that a tattoo is nothing really special. Just don't encourage him to like getting tattoos because one day when he grows up, he might be tempted into getting a real one. He's just a kid so there's no way of telling whether he will turn out to want one, just don't overdo it. One thing I would do is not to point out houw cool or how good it looks on him, this might give the wrong impression that tattoos are cool (although some people do see the point in them, don't get me wrong).

hahaha i was about to jump.... lol
I dont think the temporary tattoos do any harm at all. As a child i used to get what we called transffers. These were like a kind of temporary tattoo. My two kids get them too and i cant see it being a problem. They are five and seven and enjoy them. By the way, I dont have any either
blessed be

LOL...that's funny. My 7 year old recently got one of those airbrush tattoos at a school party and was walking around all night flashing it to everyone he saw. I said to him, "You love that tattoo don't you?" and he says, "Oh yeah, Daddy, I'm livin the young life."...LOL
I'm covered in tats and other than that inceident my kids have never expressed interest in them and in fact barely even notice them anymore. I don't think doing that will encourage them to want real ones when they are older.

Ahhh to get a real tatoo will not be an issue in the later stage I hope..lol. Its a great feeling to have a tatto at this stage as this engulf the young mind with the feeling of joy and thrilling. So let him enjy now ... forget the future. by the time he will get older ..he will be enough matured in mind to decide which one will be acheiveable and which one not and make his own decision. Cheers

My sons ages 3 and 1 often get temporary tattoos during the Sinulog (For those not familiar with Sinulog: It is the biggest religious celebration here in Cebu marked by church celebrations coupled with a Street festival like street dancing wherein everybody gets temporary tattoos like henna and sponged-on tattoos.) I don't really think it's bad because whether or not they decide to get real tattoos when they get older, that would be their decision right. Not everybody who have tattoos now had temporary tattoos when they were younger, so i don't really think temp tattoos encourages one to get a real one.

I honestly see nothing wrong with temporary tattoos for little kids as long as they are appropriate ones. I have seen a few that would not be so appropriate. No I do not think that temporary ones lead to real ones. I never had temporary ones, and I have longed for one all of my life. Maybe that has something to do with the fact that my dad has ten of them! lol
By the way, why can I not see the picture?

I blew it when I tried to upload the picture. I had forgotten to hit the 'upload button' before I submitted my discussion. D'oh! But if you take a look at my profile you will see the picture of my son's temporary tattoo there.

erm. .i don't think it has anything to do with getting a real tattoo or not.. actually.. your son is still small.. as long as you don't keep praising it to him.. and he'll just think that it's for fun.. but if you keep praising the tattoo.. you're telling him that it's very cool to have a real one.. and .. he might.. or might not.. get a real one when he's old enough.. do you agree? :)

My son is 3.5 and he LOVES those temporary tattoos. I have 2 real tattoos that he has seen many times before but I don't think that's the reason he likes the temporary ones. If it makes him get one when he is older, so be it. My parents never objected to me getting one so I won't either.

I think every little kid loves those temporary tattoos. If not, they wouldn't put them in cereal boxes. Both my girls love them, my youngest will put them everywhere if she could on her body. One day at the grocery store as we where leaving, a couple of men walked in when with tattoos on there arms. They saw my daughter's tats and said to her, cool tattoos. She replied back to them with a yours are cool to, lol. My husband, her father has two tattoos, one on his left arm and one on his chest. So she's used to seeing them. When she turns 18 and wants to get one, more power to her, same goes with my oldest daughter. I on the other hand, have a fear of needles so tattoos are not in my future. So keep those temporary tattoos coming.

My son is 9 and loves the temporary tattoos. I have gotten them for him for years. Now he thinks he's old enough to get a real one. So, I would say that it depends on the child and their owne preference. I wish I would have never gotten one for him to begin with.
