I don't think the draft would do anything for the irresponsible immature people out there.
I notice how you only specify the males.... Young girls are just as bad.
The draft would not do anything but take away everyones right to choose. Here in Canada we don't have the draft (thank god) I'm sorry but I would rather have my country served by men and women who wanted to be there because they felt it was their duty and honour to protect me rather than some punk kid that got told he/she HAD to.
I honestly blame the parents for a lot of the way kids are growing up. If kids were made to mind, weren't spoiled so much, or weren't ignored, were encouraged and helped, etc... we wouldn't have these messed up kids that we do have these days.

I don't think having a draft would solve this problem. It's not like during a draft they pick and choose who goes and who doesn't. I agree with you that a lot of young men in society today need some sort of direction but it's not fair to subject the well adjusted young men to a draft because of the bad ones. I would hate to think of my fiance having to go off because of a draft.

No way! We did away with the draft for a reason, and it should stay that way. I would much rather have a volunteer military full of young men and women who take pride in a job done right and want to be there than have some punk serving because he was forced to. That means no disrespect to the veterans who were drafted and served our country. Anyway, have you seen how the Army has lowered the standards for enlistment? I'm sure there are plenty of soldiers who are out of control, and joined hoping to get some direction.
